This is an earthquake�: The far-right rises as EU elections signal a massive shift across Europe



European voters have delivered �an earthquake,� says France�s prime minister, with the dramatic rise of right-wing, Euroskeptic parties. Partial returns from the 28-nation European Parliament elections show an unprecedented surge by Euroskeptics and outright anti-EU politicians. The results have sent national political party leaders scrambling with France�s ruling Socialist party holding a crisis meeting and Britain�s Conservatives rethinking their strategy for next year�s general election. �European politics will be different from today on,� said Doru Frantescu, policy director and co-founder of VoteWatch Europe, an independent Brussels-based organization.

So who were the big winners and losers?

The winners

FRANCE
In France, the anti-EU, far-right National Front party led by Marine Le Pen got one in four votes, the best showing by any of the country�s parties. The Socialists were holding emergency meetings to discuss the results. The breakthrough dealt a further blow to President Francois Hollande, the least popular leader in France�s modern history. Proclaiming �politics of the French, for the French, with the French,� Ms. Le Pen said the election was a �humiliation� for Mr. Hollande.



BRITAIN
With most of the seats declared in Britain, Nigel Farage�s UK Independence Party (UKIP) had 27.5% of the vote, the main opposition Labour Party 25%, the Conservatives 24%. Prime Minister David Cameron has ruled out a coalition with UKIP. Mr. Farage said it was the most stunning election upset in 100 years.

GREECE
Voters in Greece, handed first place and six seats to the anti-establishment Syriza party that campaigned against fiscal austerity policies. Prime Minister Antonis Samaras�s New Democracy party came second but the Nationalist Golden Dawn party, whose leader and five other lawmakers are in prison pending trial on charges of running a criminal organization, jumped to third place, with 9.4 percent of the vote. The result gives them three seats.



POLAND
In Poland, marginal anti-EU politician Janusz Korwin-Mikke was elected to the parliament after declaring that it corrupts politicians and should be turned into a brothel.

SPAIN
Podemos, a new movement that grew out of street demonstrations against politicians and banks, won five seats.

Germany
Angela Merkel�s conservatives were the strongest force in Germany winning with 36% of the vote, but that was down from 42% in last year�s national election. The anti-euro Alternative for Germany party � which is only a year old � won about 7% of the vote. Ms. Merkel called the rise of the Euroskeptics �regrettable.�

Well I am all for cultural avareness and preservation of our identities but i cannot and will not support parties that are so blatantly ignorant and shortsighted.
There are a lot of things that do not work in the EU. Regulations and policy-implementation that are based upon the economic and political reality of 1959, a lot of bureaus that have no real function or sense and of course the extreme lack of popular legitimacy through elected representatives in the decision making process.
But those are obstacles that can be overcome if the people of Europe want so. It is sheer madness to destroy all what has been achieved in the last 60 years because of fear and ignorance.
I ask you what is there to fear from a Union of all European Nations, based on the principles of liberty, rightousness, subsidiarity, regional autonomy and the undisputable commitment to the preservation of all European cultures and languages. Not only those representated by the member states but also those cultures that have been opressed by exactly those nation states.
What is so wrong with the people and nations of Europe banding together, remembering their common heritage and thus forming a new identity to share for the future. Why cant we achieve what the US has done and keeps doing with so much sucess: taking up people from all over Europe: Frenchmen, Englishmen, Germans, Italians, Spaniards, Poles and Russians, Swedes and Finns; giving them a chance to work together, unifying their strenght and purpose and creating a nation of the brave and the free.
Even Germany, the largest and most powerfull nation in Europe is insignificant compared to those Behemoths in Asia: China and India.
Our population is dwindeling and cannot hope to stand against the waves from Africa once they have crossed the Mediterranian. It is exactly the subject of uncontrolled immigration from the ME and Africa that can only be tackled on a European level.
The European nations need one another, alone they are nothing, antiquties and redundant as the president of the Russian Duma once said. But united we have chance for the future. As a single integrated economy we have the possibility to dwarve even the US and China, we have a chance to protect and preserve our identities in a world were languages and cultures die out every year. We have the chance to become a power on equal footing with the US, China, Russia and the other BRICS that will come and demand their share of wealth and global ressources.

I for once have no desire to live in a nation that will be dominated economically, politically, militarily and ideologically. If you have some masochistic desire that you wish that to happen, than go on: vote for FN, AfD, M5S, UKIP and all those others that have no visions for the future and are locked in the past.
