eg: the cuts take a large % away from the poor but miniscule amounts from the rich.

Ive lived in a lot different countries and know only to well that most butt hurt Aussies don't realize how fkn lucky they are. You have one of the highest living standards in the world. And even though I haven't lived in Aus for a fair while now, I still pay $60k in taxes there every year and still pay the medicare levy and I don't access one benefit. No complaints about that, but that still gives me a right to have a voice about how my taxes are spent. I might not agree with all of Abbotts policies, but the Labor govt. was a fkn train wreck and had to go.

I don't dispute they do pay a large amount of the total pool of personal income tax but to equate the same impact (or at least, perceived impact) on a person/families life these changes usher in is wrong.

With that said I'd rather we just reworked the tax system. Why tax people just to give it back to them as family tax benefit A/B? Make no sense.

Well, the "tax breaks" would cover the lower income earners. Fortunately we'd remove the massive inefficiency in the economy of the situation I described (Taxing people just to return it to them).

To be honest I'd rather see that occur and an increase in the GST to cover state funded projects (such as healthcare).
