In on this...I got to bed around 830-9 every night and get up at 430. So depending on when I fall asleep I get between 7.5-8 hours of sleep. I normally can get out of bed fine but later in the day I am dragging. I do drink coffee most of the morning

I used to be half dead in the morning even after 10 hours of sleep. Recently I've been getting up, washing my face with cold water immediately. It seems to be working, it wakes me up quite well.

Sub'd.
I've been extra groggy getting up the past couple weeks. Kind of annoying. One thing that's helping me roll out of bed is the smart alarm on my S5. Slowly increases volume so it kind of eases you into waking up. Still not 100% fresh though. Cold showers helped but I got away from them because no way in hell am I doing that in the winter. The last time I was consistently waking up fresh was when I was taking Neon Sport Surge, srs. I'm sure it could be just one of the ingredients in it that you could buy in bulk, but then again I was also going to bed earlier and more consistently.USBF Physique and Bodybuilding

Sounds weird but some nights if I got 8 hours then I would feel dead tired/groggy in the morning. Try getting 7, maybe even 6. I often felt a lot more peppy waking up on the days I gt 6 or 7 hours than if I got a huge night's rest with 8-8 1/2 hours
A single cup of black coffee in the morning
Eat an orange/apple with breakfast
Go to bed at the SAME TIME every night. Do the same routine before you go to bed (brush teeth, shower, read, etc.) to help
Avoid laptops, handhelds, TV an hour or so before bed but especially once you're in bed....they will keep you awake longer.
Make sure your room is comfortable when you're sleeping... i.e. no bright lights able to come through the window, not too hot or too cold (you'll toss/turn all night, or maybe just sweat without even knowing it)

I agree with no fap, it seems to make a large difference to me. You also want to not only get enough sleep, but also wake up during the first stage of sleep. You're on a rhythm that repeats approx every hour, and if wake up in the first stage, aka a light sleep, you'll be much less groggy. The Fitbit and others are supposed to do it for you, or you can just get in a better sleep schedule and try to get to the point where you dont' need to wake up with an alarm, and only have it as a backup.

Maybe if you were abusing it but the research shows that long term caffeine consumption helps reduce the risk for Parkinsons, Alzheimers and a variety of metabolic related disorders. That said I would try and figure out whats wrong with your sleep habit/diet. It could be a wide variety of things messing with your circadian rhythm.
