I have a duplex. There is a family of 4 on one-side and a family of 4 on the other. One family works 3 jobs between the two parents. The other works 1 job between the two parents. One family is on time with their rent and the other is always late. It is not education, it is sheer laziness. You can't teach people to not be lazy.

Meh, There is re gentrification going on in my city and it doesn't seem like a big deal.....upper middle class people are buying houses like crazy in the old poverty neighborhoods.
You see yuppies and hipsters riding their bikes down the streets of a bunch of shady looking characters. I don't think they have much problems with it.
They also build promote poverty income into newer developments by setting aside a certain amt. of houses in newer(some) developments for low income households only

You mean bad parents? You mean parents who have kids who're hood trash, have a criminal record and know nothing about raising a kid?
You CAN'T combat bad parenting and external influences with more education. Some cities in NY pump $20,000 a year ( more than the national average by a sht ton ) per student and they are still under performing nuisances. Even if you are a somewhat good parent your kid is surrounded by degenerate pot heads with bad parents who encourage degenerate nuisance behavior.
Politicians NEVER mention bad parenting or anything because it's a touchy subject and sadly you can't control it as easily. It's the root cause of nearly all of someones problems though.

No kidding brah. Not all immigrants are created equally. Though they would have you believe otherwise.
I am an immigrants son. My father came here from Italy ton escape fascism and here we are anyway.
He came to Elis Island and stayed in quarantine. He had to have a trade. He had to learn English. They didnt print all the signs, labels, menus, and Instruction manuals on Italian as they do now for the Spanish speakers here.
Now they come here and they don't learn the language. It's because they don't have to. They don't have to have a trade or skill. They go on Welfare and Food Stamps. This country is in serious trouble.
How things have changed.

Due to recent issues in Highland Heights we've adjusted the HOA contract to include a few new terms.
- please contain all 40 oz. empty beer bottles to the back yard. Any bottles found in front yards will be subject to fines
- refrain from pimping after 11 PM, as some of us have kids in school and late night activities interrupt sleep
- I know you're used to having bars on the windows, but this is not allowed in this neighborhood
- no empty bags of any kind will be tolerated in yards. Please make sure your customers leave the neighborhood before doing the drugs
- if you have a problem with what color your neighbor wears please work out your problems peacefully, or if needed both parties may request a HOA meeting to resolve the issue
Thank you for your continued cooperation in these matters.

If you teach those kids to actually give a **** about their future, they will perform better. The only reason I knew to do well in school is because I liked living in comfort and I didn't want to lose that. Schools have rarely taught you to study hard because it's good for your future. They only teach you to study hard because it's on your next test.

Yea, the east side has become pretty trendy and now developers are buying up land and putting up new townhomes and condos.
You have ghetto section 8 housing on one block and then just down the street you have like 400k townhomes going up. Eventually it's just gonna push out the poor who can't afford the higher property taxes which is sad. The east side has a lot of the old school city feel to it, along witht he ghetto parts.

I went to elemantary school in the #1 worst school in the state of Ohio. My mom stayed at home to raise me and my sister and my dad worked 7 days a week 14-16 hours a day on the family farm for less than minimum wage.
I now have a master's degree in engineering and have a good job and am almost finished paying off my school only 2 years after graduating with 6 years worth of loans.
Did the government give me a big lump of money or benefits to put me on an equal playing field with the "rich kids"? No! My mom and dad taught me how to be my own man and work my a$$ off to get where I want to be.
Having something handed to me wouldn't have made me as hungry. It wouldn't have made me work so hard. I wouldn't be nearly as successful today as I am if somebody had just bailed me out. Trying to level the playing field just cripples those who you are "helping". It's a heck of a tactic to secure a slaves for your system though that's for sure.*MFC*

The reason the poor in developing countries work that much harder in NA is mostly because of poor government spending in their home country. You will literally die if you don't get up at the crack of dawn and go to work. Here, there are safety nets and **** if you don't work hard.

The entire education system is a joke because it all revolves around lining pockets. It's a whole other topic but k-12 education is a joke and in some ways college is too ( and for the same reason; lining pockets ).
You can't teach someone to care about their future if they have bad values instilled into them by their parents ( if any at all really ). They only want to party, have anonymous sex, do drugs and other degenerate garbage.

That's a can of worms that I won't touch here for various reasons. There are considerable cultural differences between poor and middle class families that either tend to perpetuate success or teach crime. Call me a racist; I'm not...at all. There are literally hundreds if not thousands of studies on these issues; I encourage you to look into them to find the truths for yourself because they are galvanizing. It's not as simple as saying, "Family A, if given (x) dollars and access to (y) things will lead to (z)." The breadth of the problem is breathtaking and won't be solved in one or two generations--it's an epidemic.

Let's be real here bro.
Yes, poor people are victims of circumstances and have less opportunity than most. But let's not pretend they are 100% blameless in their situation either. I live in a poor area (> 40% below poverty line) and these people aint gonna be rich no matter what you do. The type of human being who you find passed out in his yard at 9 in the morning from drinking paint thinner (yes, it happens regularly here) isn't about to move into a corporate job and bring home $60,000 anytime soon. The best these people can hope for is to fraud SS disability and live off that.
What we need is the rule that only people who live in areas that have at least 25% poverty are allowed to make decisions about this stuff. I'm tired of rich people who have never met poor people deciding, "hey, we need more diversity, let's put up that Section 8 block right there." No, how about you put it in your own neighborhood and you let your house get broken into 3 times in 2 years.

I have researched the subject and found the one commonality among them: hopelessness. Hopeless that their current economic situation will not get better with regular work, but with crime that will bring them hearty rewards if done properly. The overall cultural influence to succeed is the same in both types of neighborhoods, but the means can be much different (or the same, depending on where you look).
But I agree that the only way to end the cycle of poverty is to first educate with care.RIP Lil Peep

This is the underlying story-arc that so many low-income families ignore now. The typical American success story was through good values, sacrifice and a little bit of fortune. Though fortune is a Woman and she is only kept by the bold. So many think that they're entitled to this or entitled to that but when asked why, their answers only speak of greed and envy. Great story, bro!

You can't blame being poor in America on ANYONE but yourself except for these reasons:
Born into it ( you can't play this card for ever )
fresh immigrant
having a real disability
This is America. The land of oppertunity. Only in capitalism can you go from being dirt poor to an incredibly rich tycoon.
What someone SHOULD do if they are poor is work whatever job they have and earn money to learn a trade.
