That's part of it I'm sure but some people just have a knack for being at the wrong place at the wrong time...or the right place at the right time depending on how you look at it. My wife steps outside the house for 5 minutes and watches a couple cops taking away my neighbors kid. On the other hand, I have not seen a cop on my street in years. This type of stuff happens all the time with her...lol
Well meaning, elderly man with a poor memory...pause

I also think also has to do with your natural personality disposition. My first reaction to your statement was to agree .... that I too, in 6 years of living in NYC never had a confrontation. But when I think about it, there were several instances that COULD have led to confrontations had I reacted in a particular way. I had several instances where I was followed/threatened by homeless guys, meth addicts, and street scammers ... and even though those situations might seem threatening, I never FELT threatened. I don't think my heart rate increased at all...lol. So, I always just ignored those guys and kept walking. BH, from his own description, gets nervous.... fast heart rate, shaking, etc., and in that physiological state is probably more likely to escalate the situation. I am sure in those situations where I kept walking, BH might have punched somebody.
It takes a big man to cry, but it takes a bigger man to laugh at that man.
