So I just got home and caught up on the thread. Unfortunately, it was made very apparent that things like this cannot exist unless there is a babysitter.

I already begged another mod to undelete the thread, so I'm certainly not going to ask anyone else to be responsible for it. So since I can't trust anyone to play by the rules I established (in case you're all wondering, the one in particular was where I told nobody else to get involve or instigate. So you can "thank" - in any way you see fit - the kid who posted the link to the Ellen show and encouraged notifying them) the thread has to be closed. I was fine with it being a troll/prank that someone pulled and then shared on bb.com. It will not turn into a giant bb.com-sponsored prank, however.

Once again, this is why we can't have nice things. Needless to say, any threads at all created about it will result in a ban. And yes, I will perform a forum search for them.

Sucks, because it was lulzy for a while. Perhaps old misc really is dead.

On Saturday May 17th Ellen DeGeneres posted this on her twitter:

After convening with the Poverty Aesthetics Crew we decided to take advantage of this Ellen event on campus by convincing everyone that Coldplay was going to come as well to promote their new album. We posted a fake an email exchange between a “student” at OSU and an executive producer of the Ellen show and let people justify it on their own. As if Coldplay would come to a city that doesn't even have an airport!

This screenshot is shared on a popular Oregon State ******** group for things that are overheard on campus.

Unfortunately the ******** account was prematurely deleted by ******** for being a fake account and then all hell broke loose. At this point easily over 1,000 people had viewed this post and were convinced it was real when it got deleted. People were even showing up with “proof” that this was happening! We had no idea that Coldplay was actually going to be on The Ellen Show this Wednesday or that they were even on the west coast this week. It really helped take this troll to a whole new level.

We also get a special guest if you remember our first thread from over a year ago!

Update on Crystal for those who are curious. She had a poverty wedding with her Instagram boyfriend from Australia. She graduated from college and works at a coffee shop, it doesn’t look like he has a job. #HappilyEverAfter

MISC WE ON TV

Obviously since the Ellen show was going to be coming to OSU we sent the most beta member of the Poverty Aesthetics Crew down to the event with a sign to rep the Misc:

We repped the sign for about 2 hours before the actual filming and right before they were about to televise it several event security circled our guy and tried to take the sign away. Apparently they didn’t want Bert on TV and thought it was a threat! The security and our member fought about it and our member was able to keep the bottom half of the sign for the actual show. It should air on the Ellen DeGeneres Show on the 28th!
