Came to the realization last night that I need more Bruce Campbell in my life.
We all need more Bruce Campbell in our lives.

The more I think about it, the more I think that the Ravens won't suffer a great deal from losing their franchise running back. Dragging his fiancι partially out of the elevator was the longest carry Rice has had in 2 years.

When did ESPN grow some balls? Even with Boomer predictably slobbering all over Goodell's knob last night over the new Rice punishment (now that the video is public and the league can't deny things any more), they have multiple articles up this morning ripping the Ravens and commissioner's office a new one and saying Goodell needs to resign.

ESPN is just jumping on today's bandwagon; they'll be back on the NFL's and Goodell's nuts tomorrow. And while there's nothing funny about physical abuse nor it's victims, I'm finding the NFL's handling of this issue, as more and more facts come out, to be increasingly hilarious. Kind of like when the curtain fell down in "The Wizard of Oz."
IMO, Goodell is the worst commissioner the NFL has ever had. And while we all know it's just a position of "Leage Owners' Puppet," at least he could occasionally show some integrity once in a while. He lost me for good during the whole 'replacement officials' fiasco in the past. I love the game, and most of the guys who play and coach it, but "The League" is seriously hypocritical. No brain, no gain.

Because a lot of stupid people saw the prosecutors and police look at the video and choose to give him a slap on the wrist, the league supposedly look at the video (although they're going on a full court press denying that now) and choose to give him a slap on the wrist, the team doing the same, and so these people chose to give Ray Rice the benefit of the doubt and convinced themselves that she must have provoked it or that it was an accident or that there was some sort of mitigating factor that would cause every single party to choose to do nothing and to barely hold him accountable.
Now the video was released and it shows none of those things, and these people are pissed off. And people who were pissed off the whole time are pissed off that the league and team are only doing something now that the video is public yet are congratulating themselves as if they did something noble rather than trying to cover their asses when circumstances pushed their backs against the wall.
But you know all this already.***Anyone With "Crew" in Their Signature Sucks Balls Crew***

What kind of scumbag knocks his wife out?
Who cares if a few knuckle draggers have to watch a game without their man crush. Ban the piece of chit from the sport.

I remember when my best friend Eric called our math teacher Mrs. Durocher "mom."
He couldn't live it down for about a year.

Correct
He is (now, finally) suspended indefinitely.
Agreed, especially on the replacement officials thing.
And I got sick and tired of the talking heads and other apologists saying it wasn't such a big deal and they only messed up one play (which of course wrongly decided a ****ing game outcome) but I was watching the games and they were ****ing **** up left and right.
Anybody who made comments about "replacement officials" when a real official came back and wasn't Superman incarnate can suck a dick while we are on the topic

Lmao people thought it was an accident? I thought it was universally believed that he knocked her out in the elevator and then dragged her out of the elevator. The video largely confirms this. The video appears to show Ray slapping his wife, then the situation escalates as she aggressively approaches Ray, and then Ray knocks her out. Not sure how people thought domestic violence would go down any differently or that the video was any worse than expected.

I'll never understand why the players and the NFLPA agreed to give Goodell unlimited and unchecked power to set punishments for players AND to hear their appeals and "reconsider" his punishments.

FWIW I am not condoning anything. The guy is a POS, but I think all out the knee jerk reactions are nonsensical.

Personally I think what really gets people about the video is Rice's reaction after the fact. He does not appear sorry, does not appear to think he made a mistake, does not appear to have remorse, he just seems irritated that she is unconscious. It looks like he's thinking...."Really? Now I have to deal with this? ugh I wonder if somebody could help me carry her *looks around* nope I gotta do it myself FML"

As far as screwups on the professional level of sports management, that whole deal will go down in sports history at the top of the list. A business (yes, as much as we don't want to see it that way, that's what it is) with billions of dollars of annual (weekly?) revenue pinching pennies where it comes to paying their own officials? It's hard to even take the issue seriously.
ETA:
So far, The League has managed to quiet the furor over it's player concussion issue (with more $$$, as usual), but it won't remain in the background forever. It's going to be a headline (no pun intended) topic again, and probably sooner than later. No brain, no gain.

She was always believed to have provoked him and even thrown the first punch. There has always been a double standard with domestic violence where a woman can usually attack her man, but then if he retaliates he gets slapped with the punishment, and so a lot of people believed that was the case here as well. The league had to do something though, so they gave him a small suspension. Now the video shows that wasn't the case at all, and Rice has been given the punishment he deserves.

It looked to me like the first hit came from behind the grassy knoll.
I think there might have been a third person in that elevator actually.
A second puncher, if you will.
