About 10 years ago I played almost every night on Party Poker. I got like $50 free from a promo they were having and ended up turning it in to ~$2000 before they shut them down. Not exactly high stakes by Trollando standards, but not too bad for my evening entertainment.

All I play anymore is a monthly poker night with some old guys from work. Just a $20 buy-in, and I have to generally play pretty poorly to keep from taking all their money every month and not get invited back.

Mock drafts are pointless. I'll probably end up doing some to get the badges, but other than that, there is no point. 95% of people in them just use default yahoo ranks and only log in to get the badges. The minute the draft starts, they switch to a new mock draft.

Mocks are not terribly useful IMO because:

-They are only available for a very small selection of starting roster requirements and scoring rules
-Many people do a mock pretending as though their (different) rosters and scoring rules apply, rather than the mock's
-People try different, sometimes rather outside the box, strategies in mocks as there is no risk and there often seems to be at least one or two of these people in any given room
-People troll the mocks because trolls (brb, taking K's in 2nd and 3rd rounds or taking Brees and Rodgers in the first two rounds in a 1QB league)
-As you mention, most people just follow their particular site's default rankings, and to a lesser extent ADP, anyway, so many mocks and drafts end up pretty much the same
-Luck and random chance are still important to fantasy football success
