I am aware of the term. I've put an online profile before on OKC but didn't take it seriously enough to go out with those guys. I think I only had the profile for like 4 days lol. I just don't trust online dating. :/ I'm not scared of being catfished per se but there are too many lying shady dudes on dating sites.

Lucky to not have been catfished. But I have met people that do not look like their pics - similar, but the pics normally present them at their best lighting, angle, etc.

Yeah..but some older folk don't have ********. Or they might live in another country. Although, I'm not sure if you'd want to associate with someone who'd be that mysterious that you can't find anything.
But yeah in most cases you can look up their ********, and if you know their real name, you're pretty much safe.

skyping can be a good idea too
you can scan the room and look for clues .
warning signs to look for
1.when they call ya names like sweetcheeks, baby doll, gingerbread...do they even know what your real name is?
2 if they cant keep there facts straight or say something like
"oh wait have I told you this already?"
3.if they have a lot of excuses as to why they can only talk at certain timesLast edited by latebloomingmom; 05-18-2014 at 07:40 PM.

I like catfishing.
A good smelly cheese works great for bait. Also mackerel.
Some people spray wd-40 on their bait. Seems to work well.

Met on MySpace while he was serving in Iraq. I flew to America the week he got back, spent ten days together and 3 weeks later he moved in with me in Australia 5 years married this year!
It's really about being sensible. Without meaning any offence to anyone, some of those ppl on catfish don't appear to be the sharpest tools in the shed!

Kind of unrelated but many years ago an interview technique my company used was to conclude the interview by walking the interviewee out to their car so you can look at the car to make a character judgment. Dirty wheels, food wrappers, dents, expired registration. I'm not so sure how valid it was because the most skilled workers we had at the time drove hoopties and had food wrappers and junk all over their cubicles.
