Just wanted to share this with you guys because I get a lot of motivation from this forum and thought maybe even if I could motivate just one person to get out of their comfort zone it would be worth it.
When I started my journey on 11/26/2012 I was +/-225lbs prob around +/-30% BF and just a mess. My first goal was just to lose weight and not be fat so I could keep up with my kids and take care of my health. Having kids was an eye opener for me. My kids are 2 & 4 and it would be selfish of me to live a fat and unhealthy life and die early leaving them with no dad. I reached my initial goal of not being "fat" I wasn't in great shape but I lost about 30lbs and felt really good. Then I decided to do a 12 week challenge on bodybuilding.com and lost another 15-20lbs and had really good results and I wanted more. So I gave myself a new goal, something completely out of my comfort zone. I was going to compete in a NPC Men's Physique contest. I was actually embarrassed to tell anyone because I thought there was no way anyone would believe me or they would just think it was not possible. Well, I accomplished that goal as well. I just completed that goal this past weekend when I competed in the NPC Eastern Seaboard. Now I have a new goal and that is to blow away my physique I had for my first show when I do my second show on August 16th.
I know I am not "shredded to the bone" but I was happy with my results (never satisfied). I had been training specifically for this show for almost a year and I will admit the final product was not as good as I had hoped. I did finally get some answer as to some of the reason why I was having problems adding any significant size, and then leaning out over the past year. I went to my new doctor for my annual physical and I was told I have low thyroid production and and low testosterone (180 total T). It turns our my pituitary gland has a lesion on it. After multiple rounds of blood work and a brain MRI last week we are getting closer to a solution. I am meeting tomorrow with the Endocrinologist tomorrow and hopefully it is something that can be address with medication. They have told me that since there is no tumor on the pituitary there will likely be no need for surgery. By time I found out It was too late to withdraw from the show I had entered. My entire family had book flights into town to come watch, I paid all of my fee, there was no turning back. Well, enough of that. Here are the pics. The first pic is about 2 months into my journey and I had already lost 20lbs. I don't have a pic of when I was at my heaviest. The second pic is from 5/10/14 at the NPC Eastern Seaboard.
If you ever wanted to compete and have been hesitant I say just pick a show and go do it come hell or high water. You won't regret it!

Thanks for the nice words everyone. I am glad I made a decision to make my health a priority I feel so much better physically and enjoy looking fit. My wife likes it too
I am doing my second show in 13 weeks from now and I plan on being better in every aspect. If anyone has ever had thoughts of competing I say just sign up and do it! It is such a feeling of accomplishment to get on stage. Also, your mindset changes when it comes to training and diet you are no longer just "going to the gym" you are "training for your show" dumb as it sounds I swear it does something to your mindset. Don't be afraid because you think you aren't good enough to compete, I knew I wasn't going to have the best physique there but I was in the best shape of my life and I had a blast. There will always be people bigger an leaner but what they say is true, you can't compare yourself to anyone else because all you can control is your own efforts. You never know who will show up to compete. You could end up in a situation like me where my division ended up only having 5 guys compete in Masters, heck I got a 2nd place trophy!

excellent...a marvelous transformation, indeed....
sometimes people get a sallow sunken look in their face when they drop a lot of weight, but your face actually looks much better at the lower fat profile.....
what you have done is quite an accomplishment!Lift as MUCH as you can, for as MANY reps as you can,
while in complete control of the exercise.
