This past weekend, I accomplished two goals. I competed in my first powerlifting meet and I deadlifted as much (one pound more, actually!) as I used to weigh. Which is awesome! Plus, BONUS! I met bea, and obi-wan!!! <3 They are mega cool chicas. I wish I lived in the same city as them.
My video from the meet, was hard for me to watch. I usually wear flattering clothing and take flattering pictures, but the video, which showcases my progress in strength (yay!) also showcased me looking like a stuffed sausage in that damn wrestling singlet. (Boo!)
I plan to get to the 198 weight class for the meet I am attending in November. Today I weigh 229, so I have 31 pounds to go.
Here is the video, that bea and obi-wan put together for me. Thank you, lovely ladies!!!
I have a great coach, who is very supportive and inspiring and mega strong. I plan to log my sessions with him here.
I love this female journaling section and the people in it. I am glad to be back.

I am so proud of you! You look like a pro up there. Was watching you set up for a squat (which looks REALLY good btw) and my eyes drifted down to your sig and saw 303 dead and I literally jumped up and screamed.
Your benches looked pretty effortless. Really close on that last one, the pause always feels so much longer than it looks.
You were on a mission for those deads. Your final 303 was smooth as silk, you've got more in the tank. Congrats, and welcome to the 300 club! I tried to find a celebratory gif but it looks like '300 club' is a bunch of naked guys who go swim in Antarctica. So not that, but congrats on 300!!CSCS

mah ladies!!
well if you ever make it to new mexico, i'm your gal, gobbles! ever had a cucumber jalapeno margarita? worth the trip!
thanks
hey, jani! thanks. B is as sweet as you can imagine. thanks for the compliments on my lifts. i have worked really hard on getting depth and i think i have it now.
i am mad for competing. the adrenalin pump was incredible. it's got to be why those lifts went up so easy. want MOAR!
thanks, 80's!! for the bench, i just completely forgot that i was suppose to wait for a command! lol. i was confused when they took the bar away from me instead of waiting for the rack command. it's like the press command ceased to exist. haha. my coach had to explain it to me. geeknotverysmart.jpg
i got 300!!!! i know i don't look excited on the video, but about five minutes later i was super excited. right after, i was confused and couldnt believe how easy it went up. i wondered if it was a misload. hahaa
i hope some of the guys i've been journaling with show up and say hi. <3 for the O35'ers.

Notes
This week coach is taking it easy on me. This is a week for recovery and just getting some light conditioning and some lifts in so I don't rust. Next week starts the master plan, which kind of terrifies me, but mostly makes me super excited.
We talked about goals. We agreed to plan for the following. He said it's ambitious but do'able if I do the work.
733 total at 198.
So I lose 30 pounds and gain 100 on the lifts. He is assuming I left at least 45 pounds on the platform, which was planned, in part. We both think I could get 135 for bench on meet day, if I remember to pause for the press command!! 225 was totally possible for squat and 315 was do'able as well considering how well 303 went up. So, with those numbers, you get a 675 total. We are really only looking at a 58 pound PR total to get me to 733. I think I can do that and lose 30 pounds in six months if I eat what he tells me to eat and do all of the work. I train 5 days a week, 1.5 - 3 hours a day. So, do'able.
I think a total for 198 over 700 is getting respectable. It would put me in Class I per plw.com. Would be nice to be there this year.

putting it here for posterity. it's a riff on orange chicken. and there is plenty of sauce to stir-fry some veggies in there, which is what i did. a ton of sugar snap peas and carrots.

it wouldn't be an amazon slumber party without you, swooshers.
i'm 95% sure i'm going to dallas in november. it would be amazing if you could attend, but that's a huge commitment of time for you. you have a ranch and kids, so i wouldn't expect it at all! maybe i could come see you though?
training day coming up.

thank you!!
the conditioning stuff he puts together kicks my ass in the best way possible.
like today
Friday Conditioning
+180 prowler 2 - 20 yard sprint
barx20 bench press
battle ropes (chains) 20 alternating
+180 prowler 2 - 20 yard sprint
16kg KB OH swings x15 ea
12kg KB clean and press x10
+180 prowler 2 - 20 yard sprint
20lb db low incline press
battle ropes (chains) bird flaps
+180 prowler 2 - 20 yard sprint
16kg KB fighter figure 8's x15
12kg KB clean and press x10
+180 prowler 2 - 20 yard sprint
20 lb db high incline bench press
battleropes (chains) together x20
+180 prowler 2 - 20 yard sprint
16kg KB round and rounds
12kg KB halos
and then i did that entire circuit again, but with the prowler weight reduced to +90 lbs.
the last two prowler pushes at 180 lbs were a ****ing joke! at about 7 yards to finish each way, i literally could not push anymore and had to drag it to the finish line.
monday i finally get to bench press and do some squats. from here on out, tuesday and thursday are dedicated to conditioning and MWF are weight training set up in a very similar way to sheiko. i have every opportunity here to get my total up to 733 lbs (my goal for november). if i don't do it, it will be because i was slacking, and not the fault of programming. i watch lots of videos of really kick ass heavier power lifters to give me inspiration.
shannon st. michael

samantha kirkland (who is new to powerlifting!)
if i want to be in the same caliber as these women i need to keep my head in the game.
