For some of us this is a hobby and hobbies are more fun if you can share them with others.

This is exactly how a lot of us on the forum feel. It works better when people here are watching out for one another.

If I am not mistaken, Matrix recently picked up some gear that I posted which indirectly led to ndmike99 finding and getting some nice plates in the same haul. One other member may have benefitted from the Transporter's services on that haul. I like it when that happens.

I am familiar with what several of the regulars may be looking for and will give them a heads up if I see something in their area.

This is exactly how myself, Matrix, and one other member ended up working together to get a deal where everyone came out ahead and everyone was happy with the transactions.

I've stopped posting vintage stuff on the forum entirely. And I've stopped messaging links to vintage stuff as well. Too many headaches with vintage stuff. If I pass a deal on to someone, I'm trying to be helpful. The message is the end of my involvement unless you want to email photos of the cool stuff that you got. But too many times there are multiple parties interested in something and some sort of problem arises. It's actually to a point, where I'm reluctant to post about vintage stuff at all.

I can understand your reluctance here. The vintage stuff is a little harder to find so people (myself included) seem to get a little more excitable when it comes along. If people put in the work looking and have patience you can usually find what you are looking for eventually.

Speaking about vintage stuff there were some older 100 pound plates for sale in this area (york I think) a couple of days ago but it looks like somebody may have picked them up.

Not sure if this is a repost but I bought 6 45's off the guy, they look used but all weight within a lbs and at a $1/lbs are better than anything else I have found.

Sorry man you're not going to get anywhere close to $3750 for all that. If you do you'll be the luckiest craigslist seller in the history of time.

Gotta start somewhere. I don't expect $3750, but I'm not going to put my asking price where I expect to get because most people don't offer what you're asking.

As expected I'm getting offers for parts rather than the whole set.

Already got an offer for about $1k for all the dumbbells, rack and 2.5lb magnet attachments.

I paid 270 for the used set which is more than I wanted to pay. Ended up flipping the bar which made the plates at a reasonable price. Still more, but sadly Yorks are pretty rare down here.

The Houston auction I put some online bids on went into crazy high prices.... I just got off the phone with the auctioneer. nothing was below 1000 bucks except a cybex lower back machine...

nope no shipping. Local only. Houstons used fitness market is pretty bland. halfway decent stuff here gets marked up pretty high, which is why I bought quite a bit new from Promaxima. the benches went for a lot... I think like 500+ the Oly bars were 300+

I can't tell you the last time I've seen a decent craigslist deal in my area. I think it's been over a year! Then the heavens parted and this ad popped up last night:

I recognized the CAP OB-86B bar (which I've almost bought new multiple times now). And, of course, the York plates. The ad doesn't say much about the plates. I couldn't tell how many pounds of plates there were, so I offered $150.00 for the bar and plates.....which he accepted. Turned out to be approx 430 pounds of York plates to go along with the OB-86B, muscleclamp collars, and a massive weight tree. Pics coming up....







EDIT: Also, his homemade wooden rack was SOLID. He offered it to me for free, but I have no room for it even if I did want it.

I got the exact same set in NL for $280 on Kijiji, and here the best new price is Spartan Fitness at $350 + tax. The phrase "steel doesn't lose it's value" makes me want to give him/her the single finger salute!

that is a great deal. ive pushed over 600 lbs (including myself) many many times on that bench and it was always solid. $50 is a steal.

It is nice. I just sold mine when I got my BM flat bench. I'll miss it as it was a solid piece, but not when I am benching on the BM.

I think that guy (owner of the wooden rack) is a regular on another fitness forum that I frequent. I seem to remember him detailing the building of that rack.

Somebody, it was a personal training studio in Raleigh...said they were 'just in the way'.

I had to leave in the middle of the day at work to get them and deal with that and make up time and so on but I mean c'mon...best CL find I've ever seen for myself.
