8 weeks out... Any way possible I could compete?

I don't want to be unrealistic or waste my time if I am going to embarrass myself but there is a show coming up in 8 weeks and I was wondering if I had enough muscle and time to cut down and compete in men's physique? I have only been lifting for 4 months now but I have dropped close to 40 LBS so far. I know this pic is just a front shot but it is all I have right now. My current macros are 175 Pro, 55 fat, 200 carbs= 2000 cals with one reefed per week. I have stopped doing cardio and am still losing about 2 LBS per week... Lift 4 days a week doing RPT training. So just curious if you guys think I have any chance to cut enough weight and if I have enough muscle even to try right now or should I continue to lift a while longer before trying a show? I have looked at some guys competing pics and cant really tell how I know if at 8 weeks out I can get that lean or not. Thanks for the input!

I would give it a minimum of 12 weeks to prep, 16-18 if you want to be in the callouts. Good aesthetics BTW...

Possible bro, but like mentioned 12 weeks would be way more ideal to your shape

Try it, I'm just too pvssy until I feel way comfortable to compete. Another two years and I will be in the 35+ class & should be way ready

    Good luck bro!

Thanks man... I took your advice a while back about upping my cals when I was stuck at 192 lbs and I started losing Again so thanks for the advice... Going to keep cutting and maybe find a show at a later date or at least see where I am then... Just don't know how much of a difference 8 weeks will make

I don't think you have enough time. Sure you can compete but it would probably be embarassing. You have only been lifiting for four months and are trying to compete? Seems a little rushed. You do have a solid base though.

Registrations are usually open till the last week or two. So you can start to go for it, do your best, but wait until the last moment to seal the deal. If you don't look good enough, just don't register. Doing a "dry run" is probably a good idea in any case. Too many people keep pulling the "I'm not ready, I won't be ready, I'll just bulk/cut some more" excuses. Sure, staying realistic is good, but you have to take the step eventually. A dry run isn't like the real thing, but it's close enough. It's good experience to teach you the value of proper prep time, how long and hard the diet will be for you and how to approach future contests.

    Good luck in any case!

I was in a similar situation and started prepping 7 1/2 weeks out and probably had slightly higher bf than you I started eating and prepping like I had 4 weeks to do it and I quickly got where I need to be I'm right on track now at exactly 4 weeks out. I could be leaner at this point but if you have the goal in mind I say go for it and work your ass off. Good luck man

competing isnt just something you decide to do on a whim. the way i look at it is, im dropping a bunch of money (fees, spray tans, hotel and travel accommodations, etc) and devoting my life to it during prep, im not going to be stepping on stage unless im bringing my best package. take the time and bring your best.

I agree with this comment- its an investment, time/money/lifestyle.. On the bright side- with only 4 months of lifting, you have impressive structure (not to negate the complement, but realize Im talking within a given time frame)- so yes I think you can compete- but give it some time... Delts Arms and Traps look strong on you- I would look at bringing up your chest and lats- this should help give the illusion of a smaller waist.

Normally Id agree with others, as many in this section have a much more experience and knowledge than I do. But I personally wouldn't attempt to push the cut to contest condition, maybe go a tad leaner if you want but work to get the cals back up sooner than later to get to a growing phase.. these seasons go quick, count back 12-24 weeks (ur condition determines length of prep) from a possible show date next year (many shows run the same time of year each year) to see when you need to start prep and will also get an idea of how much time you have to grow..
