I don't know why you'd see 2 shotguns. I don't think I ever have. Must be a department that uses two-officer cars.
Rifles are sometimes in the trunk. Some departments only allow certain officers (SWAT, 'road supervisors', etc) have rifles, some don't have the budget for them and officers don't choose to buy their own, etc.

Good morning. Way too busy this weekend. First time I got to sit down and 'relax' was last night at 8:30.

Quoting myself for morning crew.
I didn't mention recoil at all originally. I wouldn't say the gun had that much recoil compared to other 9mm on the market. I noticed that it had a little more muzzle flip, whereas my M&Ps have more of a rearward feeling recoil. But it was inconsequential to accuracy. It's a soft shooter for sure, comfortable.

Hey brahs I have been shooting a lot of 9mm lately and am going to get one soon. I really like the S&W shield. Just had a random question though, I have been looking around and noticed some guns are designated at CA or MA compliant, what do these states require for the gun to be compliant with them?

Love my Shield 9mm . . . it's a really nice carry weapon to begin with. I recently added the APEX trigger kit and now it's even better . . . trigger is much smoother, a bit lighter, and has a much better reset (or "r3s3t" as it's affectionately known around here). As others have noted, some states have capacity requirements, loaded chamber requirements, maybe magazine disconnect features, probably some other crap. You'd just want to check the laws for your state to see what they are.

I am in Ohio so I don't know if it matters what I do to it after I buy. The shield I was shooting the other day had a modification for a 3lb or so trigger pull and was really nice. If I couldn't find a none MA compliant one in my area I would most likely mod the trigger pull 10lbs just seems crazy
