    Question Protein Suggestions? (Lactose intolerant)

I'm lactose intolerant so as it is, its difficult to find a protein supplement that does not have some type of lactose ingredient in it. For the past few months I have been taking soy protein because my stomach can handle it better, however my muscles arent showing much growth as they used to before and on top of that... lets just say I've been more emotional. Hahahaha I could really use some suggestions because I know I am not the only lactose intolerant dude on this forum.

P.s. I have tried supplements that claim to be 100% pure whey protein or 100% protein but they still manage to have a form of lactose in the ingredients.

Whey concentrate and whey isolate are 2 different birds. Have you definitely tried isolates? Not blends, not casein, not concentrate, but isolate?

You shouldn't have a problem with isolates.
What ones did you try that claimed to be lactose free?

It's worth looking into our Platinum Iso Whey.
We have a filtration process that removes lactose, ash, and fats

I fought this problem for while back in the day. It sucked!!! Watched a video of Dave P talking about Pure Isolate protein and people with our problem needing to use a 100% Isolate to avoid these lactose issues. Changed over to a 100% Isolate and my gastric problems were gone in a matter of days. No more "protein" gas! I have used a few Isolates over the years that have worked 100%.

    Gaspari Isofusion - Current
Natures Best Isopure - Past & Current

Dymatize Iso-100 - Past - This Whey isolate is hydrolyzed. I am not sure if the peptides change anything. But I did get a little gas while using this.

ON Performance Whey Isolate - I bought this a while back at Costco. Within 3-4 hours I had stomach issues and gas. I discontinued use and the problems subsided immediately.

So just make sure you find a quality Isolate and stick with it if it works for you!

Isolates should most def be okay for lactose intolerant people. My fiance is lactose intolerant.. drives me nuts with the silk milk, lactose free yogurt, i cant have pizza, no cheese this, no cheese that, drives me freakin nuts!!

Anyways, she use Isotean and has no issues with it being a complete isolate; 30g protein per serving and tastes great.

As other said OP look into a quality isolate protein. VPX SRO is a great option and the graham cracker flavor is very popular on these boards

As stated, isolates will be your best bet to tolerability. You would have to take in quite a bit of soy daily to receive any negative hormonal changes associated with the isoflavones, and even then it would be minimal (if my research hasn't failed me).

Problem with isolates is they are very expensive. I would opt for whole food protein sources if it's cheaper for you.

This is true, they do tend to be up there in price

Another great option for those with lactose intolerance is a plant-based protein, such as SAN rawfusion. Pea, artichoke, & rice protein = no milk products whatsoever, so even if you're very very intolerant, you will have no issues with this.

OP are you suggesting that your muscles aren't growing just because you aren't taking whey protein powder? If your progress is stalling it is likely because you are not consuming enough macronutrients/calories to make progress. Nothing inherently special about protein powder, though it will help you reach your goals.
    I suggest you read this
    http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showth...hp?t=136691851

For a whey protein isolate option, look into VPX or BioX. Both are great brands.
