I prefer the build quality of B+W (especially the Kaesemann filters) but my Hoya HD polarizer lets in a little more light so I usually put it on my 70-200.
The 9 stop ND400 had a strong magenta cast but since I mainly used it for B&W it wasn't an issue not to mention it was easy to correct in post.
Bought a 52mm one for my 50 f/1.4 a long time ago and it worked fine.

Went out with the intention of doing a milky way shot (slept passed my alarm) so I had to settle for just a sunrise.

Sup guys. Canon here. 5D mark III.
Picked up a canon 70-300mm 4.0-5.6 L lens yesterday, got it for $900 off craigslist. Like new condition.
I'm pretty impressed with it. It's more for my dad. He's traveling to europe soon and will be up in some mountains and he'd like to take pics of far away things. But man, this thing focuses FAST and ACCURATE and built like a tank. I dont like the fact that the aperature isn't constant, but whatever its not for me its for him. Personally I'm saving up for the 70-200 2.8L ii.
Some pics I snapped right after getting it while hanging out with some friends:
last one is edited of course.

Side note for anyone looking to clear out a city or landscape but for whatever reason don't want to use longer exposures, photoshop has a great feature for this. You basically just expose as you normally would, shoot multiple frames with objects in different positions, and ps can remove objects similarly to the way you would do it manually with masks,

Which is why your model/assistant carries it. Remember, these are the extra efforts that separate pro photography for the amateur snapshots.
Of course you could use the flash and high speed sync. But then in some of cases you'd also need a light stand which bring us back to doe. Still simpler, would be to just go into the shade. Or wait until the Golden Hour.🎥

i took these shots last summer with my first camera and lens. an intro crop sensor D3100 with an 18-55 3.5 kit lens. not as spectacular as the kinds you see all over the web but i was thrilled i could even capture the milky way with my gear. this is 27mm on a full frame. and stars arent really sharp bc i extended the shutter longer than i should have just to gather more light. 25s on 1 and 3, 20s on 2. all at 3200, which on the crop sensor produced a fair amount of noise but they still worked for me at the time.
edit: sorry so large wtf. just open in new tab

^ awesome shot
I think you went a little overboard with noise reduction and it got a bit mushy. to each his own but to me I would prefer a little more noise and less blur induced noise reduction.
great shot light and composition is perfect

Good job and shows what is possible with entry level gear that is 5 years old.
Enabling LENR (long exposure noise reduction) in the camera would have mapped out the hot pixels and careful use of noise reduction in post would reduce some of the noise. At small print sizes and for web display they look fine. A shorter exposure as you said would have dealt with the star trails.
Of course a D810 or D4s with a fast prime would yield better results but there are plenty of cashed up amateurs with that gear who never put it to use outside of cat photos and snapshots of crap around their home. Meanwhile there are people with a great eye for composition who spend that money instead on traveling to beautiful locations.
