How are you accessing the program, from an icon in the task bar? First verify to see that Lightroom shows up under Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features.
Next, use the Search feature instead to bring up the program. Also, are you logged on as Administrator? You can do that by right clicking on the name. Sometimes this can be an issue when trying to initially launch the program. If its installed properly, one of these should work.Last edited by KRANE; 04-22-2015 at 11:08 PM. Reason: sp

Try logging in and out completely, not just closing the app.

Not yet it Adam. Last version I tried was 4. It's great software and if you shoot with Canon is probably all you need.
My issue with Adobe is that without competition that's all we'll have. Right now you can still buy LR but once they have enough subscribers you know they'll pull the plug on that and roll it into the CC as the only way to use it. The idea of renting software doesn't appeal to me.

Is there anything worth upgrading for except the GPU acceleration? LR5 has been pretty solid for me.

Is this from the VSCO film 00 pack they just released for free? I don't normally use presets but was considering experimenting with this.
HDR and Panoramic features are neat but as a few miscers have pointed out already, there are some great standalone apps for those. The face recognition is useless to me. The thing I'll probably use the most out of all the new features would be the filter brush, but even that won't see tons of use.
If you aren't processing batches of thousands of shots, I'd say you will be ok with 5. If you're shooting something sports related then the gpu acceleration will really help your workflow (I fill up a few cards per football game in the fall, feel like this extra processing power could easily shave an hour or 2 off my post workflow which is an hour or 2 that we can get photos up on the website, social media etc.)Last edited by Jamestrussel; 04-23-2015 at 07:00 AM.

Agreed, the light is really cool. He's almost translucent.
For anyone who is interested, VSCO has some free film presets for lightroom right now.

Here's another shot from my weekend in Vancouver. I went out for a quick walk early Sunday morning while my travel mates slept off the night before.
Used one of the free VSCO presets and some other minor adjustments

DOF is good on the ant but get in closer to utilize the full macro capability. With that lens you can get details such as hairs and the multi lenses on the eyes. You should be able to get excellent pics of things down to about one millimetre, use f/11-f/14,and try with and without flash.Macro is a bit of work to get right.

No, but it is a close approximation. Film has that heavy saturated look. The reds and brown are earthy and organic. At least with Kodak film. Needs some part of the subject. Although I wouldn't use an actual homeless for my own purposes, so its OK to compose. Not with the ant alive.

Wordpress brahs, anyone know of a good theme that lets you use full-width pics? Getting a little tired of my theme that only allows like 960px wide.

Thanks for the input brahs.
Thanks for the input mane, I was considering this, but these buggers are fast, running up and down the bark constantly, and the USM motor on the 100mm wasnt keeping up good, and to add to that the 11 point focus on 6D didnt help, here first time I wished i had more cross type AF points (6D only has 1). I got a hand full of sharp shots, but I liked this one better due to the light and dark background. Most of the shots were at f11.
And let me remind you, these are Fire Ants, even a single bite can be lethal, and I was standing around the whole colony of them. BRB constantly paranoid.
