Haven't done much shooting or miscing lately. My wife and I just bought our first house so I've been busy cleaning, painting, moving etc. Also had a Disney vacation we just got back from. Bad timing, but it was booked in May before we knew about the house. Oh well, soon things will settle and I'll be back to contributing. In the mean time here's a Disney snapshot.

tfw a guy was randomly taking pictures at an event I went to and is now selling them and they look cool like I want to have them and put them on ******** but aren't worth buying
$11 for a 5x7... no thanks jefferey. The previews are also too small to tell if they are any good at size and have a huge watermark.

It's only going to be an issue in full sunlight with a fast lens and dialing back ISO to 50 or using an ND would solve the problem.
That doesn't change the fact it's a stupid limitation.
If it was a feature only available in the pro models that's one thing but the Nikon D7100 and Canon 7D both go up to 1/8000 so that's not the case.
Memo to Canon and Nikon: charge more for a better sensor and build quality but don't cripple cameras to avoid cannibalizing sales of more expensive models.

One from yesterday. I'll go back at some stage and clone out all the boats, birds and mainly the light leak from my ND filter at the bottom once I get some spare time. Thought I'd just upload something as I haven't done so in a while.

A few last ones from the alps. First one is me cross country skiing by sunrise, basically put seal skins under your skis so you can walk up a mountain with them. gets you to cool places.

Next one is a random capture of a rain cloud moving through the mountains on a half-sunny day.

^^ I like that picture of your kid a lot. But I'm evil, so...
Question: I'm looking into buying a 70-200mm, and they just so happen to have a used one on B and H. On their rating scale they have it as a 9 and it's $2,000 (savings of $400.) Is that a solid deal? Is now a good time to buy said lens? Advice please, and thank you.*Texas Crew

Great lighting! Really dig the shot
Ask yourself if you really need the VR (or whatever it's called if it's Canon). I got the 80-200 for around $800 or so and am quite happy with it. I'm sure I'd want the VR if I was shooting events with it though, it's my new go-to for location portraits. (Home studio is a little too tight to use it much)Last edited by FunkDaddy; 10-05-2014 at 11:32 AM.

Honestly, I don't really NEED any of this sh*t; not doing anything really serious at the moment, just wanted something with some more reach when I'm out 'jacking' around. I do have a friend with a wedding coming up, so I may be shooting that to see if I could handle it. I would normally just buy all these things new, but if I get the $2,000 one, I can get it a few weeks earlier as I'd have the money saved up. I lack patience. Just wondering if B and H was gonna try and sell me some beat to hell lens (I like my stuff to look nice because I take care of my equipment.)

Impressive vector and vanishing point. They should have called you on opening day.
As for the car. You only tipped the iceberg. There's so much more that can be done with that little beauty. Diffused lighting/angles/etc. I suspect you have more. But there's at least 100 photos there.🎥

So I got this random e-mail the other day.
Hi My name is ...
I’m the art manager at ...... in Monterey California. We’re a small publishing firm that specializes in educational supplements. We’re finishing up a series of science books called Skill Sharpeners Science. The fourth grade book has a section on wave power and we’d like to use your photo of the Powerbuoy. I’ve attached a copy below along with a pdf of the article. Would it be possible to get your permission to publish this photo in our book? If so please let me know and I will e-mail a permission form
I took a picture of a buoy (built by a company my job was working with) that was being deployed while on the job with my personal camera. Is this considered my intellectual property or since I was technically working at the time, even though they didn't ask me to take pictures, is it owned by my employer?psn: mdksniper

Saw weiner dogs racing today.
Just changed the WB here, haven't really touched any of the photos from the race yet, but thought i'd share the cuteness of this pic.
It was kind of interesting shooting this event with only a 50mm and a 18-55 mm, made you feel creative about how you were gonna shoot these small but long dogs. Lots of kneeling...good portion of the track was closed off too which brought interesting challenges."Learn from Yesterday, Live for Today, Hope for Tomorrow"

Poll: Would you buy a high MP Canon EOS 5DIV?
"I am fine with 20 to 24 MP."
"I don't need all those megapixels as I presume that fps will drop in that case."
"Personally I do not need more pixels (as others said before, would need more storage and all that)"
"For my use, I do NOT want more megapixel."
"No. 24 mp would be enough for me"
"Not concerned with megapixels at this moment in my photographic life. The 20 or so that I have now seems to work just fine"
"Megapixels are just fine now."
"I'd hope a 5D4 wouldn't go past 24 mp"
"High MP is not a priority in my shooting"
"I would never buy a camera just because it had more MP."
"More pixels don't interest me for what I'm shooting."

This review right here of the nikon d750 by Ross Harvey has been a huge hit over the weekend i've been seeing:
http://www.rossharvey.com/reviews/nikon-d750-review
I've read through parts of it, but i'll be one to say, he is quite a talented photographer himself. His work, especially his post processing is quite beautiful. He does a comparison to the D3S, and finds the d750 works better for him for his line of work (weddings). He makes many good points about the ISO performance of the d750, but as i've been looking at the many comments on the web regarding his review, i'm getting the impression people assume that they will get the same results if and only if they get the d750. I do think he makes good points the camera works for him because of the ISO performance, autofocus, and the FPS works well for weddings, but for many the similiar results can be done with practically any camera with good skills in post and a good ability to capture interesting things."Learn from Yesterday, Live for Today, Hope for Tomorrow"
