I have worked on hundreds if not nearly a thousand cars. That experience is starting to add up in what I see everyday. First, don't buy an used European car: you will not make it with maintenance/cost of owning those pieces of chit!!
Not only are they delicate as hell, everything that can possibly go wrong goes wrong.
Brb no OIL dipstick in mercedes/bmws.
Brb everything sealed
Brb leaks everywhere
Brb every bolt/nut has a correct torque
Not saying Euro cars are bad (they're one of the finest cars ever) but working on them is highly complicated and too expensive for their own good.
NOW, compare that to Jeeps.
Holy Hell. What a difference. No clutter under the hood. Everything is easy to see, work on.
But yeah, fuk BMWs, especially. Never getting those poverty cars of peace (ironically).
Would rather get a new Grand Jeep Cherokee (100% dead srs).

What's your credibility?
I like BMWs, I just wouldn't buy one without a dealer's warranty. Even then you're probably gonna be paying top dollar for basic ass oil changes. No thanks.
Wrangler's are legit. They have REAL skid (metal) plates. Unlike most European cars (plastic, they protect nothing).*Mod Negged for rooting for Seahawks Crew *

All cars do. But most BMWs have hollowed oil pan bolts: one more slight turn and you break that chit off, with the bolt stuck inside the pan. Whose bright idea was that in the first place ? ? ? ? ? ??
Now, take a NORMAL car, and you can realistically over-tighten it without fuking it up. And worst comes to worst, replacing an oil pan is easy but not on BMWs.*Mod Negged for rooting for Seahawks Crew *

Are there any exceptions to your "no used Euros" rule? I love European cars, but have always bought Japanese for their reliability and low cost of ownership. My last several cars have been Acuras. Are there any nice used European cars I could buy next that wouldn't have me crying tears of blood every other week?
READ THIS: You know how your Visa gift cards usually end up with $0.63 left on them, so then you carry them around for months before you eventually just throw them away? Well, Tarck's here to tell you that most charities have a PayPal link on their website where you can quickly donate that balance (even if you don't have a PayPal account). It only takes a moment and it beats literally throwing money away. Thanks for your time; we now return to your regularly scheduled cuckold and FA threads.

if you're going to buy used, just go under the hood and make sure everything is sealed and there are no obvious leaks/noises. Most retards buy cars and never check underneath -- which usually tells you 90% of what's wrong with a car right away. Oil leaks, tranny leaks, differential leaks, drive-line leaks are pretty obvious things to check for and for larger SUVs the fittings (unless they're sealed). Also: an oil leak doesnt' mean it has to be actively leaking, sometimes that chit is spread all over but hard to tell from just "test driving."
I've seen pretty nice BMWs drive up, but once I get down there holy hell!!!!!!*Mod Negged for rooting for Seahawks Crew *

What are some of the absolute worst, avoid-at-all-costs models from the last ten years or so? The kind of used car to produce headaches you wouldn't wish on your mother's rapist?
