I was reading a post from jamestown and it said do you consider yourself a bodybuilder?
you shouldn't consider yourself a 'bodybuilder' because you simply build your body... You're a recreational lifter. These past 4 months I've broken myself down and became anti-social and selfish only caring about myself. Not missing one meal, not having cheat meals or cheating myself in the gym. I was supposed to do 25 minutes of cardio on stairmaster and it took me usually 10 seconds to start my machine up to a certain resistance so I always ended up going 25 minutes and 20 seconds so I knew I wasn't cheating myself. And I'd be doing a set and half way through it I'd think do more and I had to do it or afterwards I'd feel incomplete. My dad would always get mad at me because at the end of the workout I was exhausted physically but mentally I wish I could've worked out so hard I couldn't be walking around right. If you think being on 40 g of carbs a day is an easy thing you're very mistaken, don't call yourself a bodybuilder unless you've went through this. 9 days out today... I have a new respect for bodybuilders or anyone who gets on stage; this takes guts.
dont care if you don't read not my problem, no cliffs

I didn't call myself a bodybuilder. I said that in the thread. My response was that I'm not one but I'm working on becoming one. Honeslty you are pretty spot on. Bodybuilders work their asses off and then 145 pound curl brahs who go to the gym and do sit-ups and curls once a week call themselves bodybuilders while they are dead wrong.

For once I agree with you.
You're not a bodybuilder unless you compete. You can't force knowledge into a dumbass any more than you can force sight into a blind man.

Agree with some of this, however don't believe you have to be obsessed to the point that the gym is the guiding reason of your life in order to be called a bodybuilder.
Then again...obsession is usually what you need to achieve greatness in any field.Youtube Channel --> youtube.com/channel/UCNSdg8uIH4A1dRey0-Kzdpg

when i went down to 8% it ****ing sucked but i wasnt horribly obsessed with it. Actually it's harder for me to mentally cut not because of the strict eating but simply because I HATE seeing myself get smaller.
i call myself a bodybuilder sometimes even though i've never competed.
i've done worse than you have to make weight for wrestling and gone through much worse practice wise so ik how you feel but chris jones for instance, doesn't go as low as 40g of carbs and what not and isn't as obsessed with it but he's a bodybuilder without a doubt imo.
but i also know how you feel anger wise/frustration wise because while you're current situation is much harder than your average "bodybuilder" who just goes to the gym and lifts and doesn't get as shredded as you. best of luck in your competition brah
