My friend has been at the gym for approx 6 months now. He has went from 14 stone til around 16 stone. His height is 6'4. His current benchpress is 90 kilo but he is trying to better it in order to prove a point to another friend. Now this guy weighs around 12 and half stone, and stands at about 5'11. He benchpresses 95 kilo.
My argument is that because the first guy weighs 16 stone he has more weight behind him when it comes to the different lifts. And also because his bench is at 90 kilo he is at a deficit of around -11kilo as his bodyweight is 16 stone (101kilo) whereas the other guy that weighs around 12 and a half stone, yet benches 95 is lifting in around 15 kilo above his bodyweight.
My friends argument is that because he is taller he thinks he has more work to do in terms of lifting than that of someone smaller than him.
Would appreciate feedback.

Did you weigh both guys' arms and add it to the weight on the bar? Their pecs have to push the weight of their arms too so you gotta account that and I'm sure the taller/heavier guy has heavier arms to push.

90kg is 90kg, so they are doing the same thing, in a powerlifting competition the lighter guy would win, outside of that you can still technically say that the lighter guy is more impressive but he isn't stronger because he is not lifting more weight.
Just like if you at 5'11" ran 100m in 11 seconds and I at 5'6" ran it in 11 seconds, I am not faster than you even though I have a shorter stride and and moving substantially more weight per inch down the track. It'd be like staying fat while running marathons because it's more impressive to finish a marathon when you're overweight. It might be impressive in the short run, but in the long run it just doesn't make any sense. ~breathinglife
