So i have an idea for my competition

A lot of people, including myself always look better the week after the contest

So I'm basically going to prep as if I was going to compete one week prior, follow by big cheat.. then raise cals 100 like a reverse diet. Then compete

Boils down to your definition, I guess. I'm doing 30 secs on, 30 secs off sprints. I think 14 is my best. No, I don't think pushing tires around is the same intensity. I'm in pretty fit shape and can't continue after that long. Occasionally I throw up.

My point of view: You can't do max effort for an hour unless your breaks are substantial.

I thought the max effort referred to the sprint, you know the actual HIIT section.
I think you really only can go at max effort for 30 sec.

i think what hes getting at is if you do 30 seconds sprinting, followed by 30 seconds low intensity or resting, by the 60th time you're not really sprinting.

i dont think even top athletes could run 60 full on sprints in 60 minutes... thats why people say HIIT generally can't be done for 1 hour.

no one is saying you can't work hard for an hour, but at some point you're not really going fast or hard enough for it to really be considered HIIT.
