    Whey Protein

I drink Whey protein shake first thing in the morning, and post work out. A couple hours later from my first shake, I eat breakfast (1/2 cup of oats). I eat clean all day, cardio, and hit the weights hard, I'm having trouble losing the last remaining lbs of fat around my mid section. Think it's necessary to be drinking a protein shake plus breakfast in the morning?

Being in a caloric deficit is what will cause you to lose the weight. A protein shake is just a convenient way to help you meet your daily requirement.

Supplements are never necessary, and they sure as hell aren't magic. Focus on diet and training, it takes time and effort but if you keep at it the end result will be phenomenal

Why don't you start counting calories and figure out your macros for your goal? Instead of upping the cardio, you may simply be able to cut back on the supplemental whey and not have to do any cardio at all.

I don't think that is what people are suggesting. You should be tracking your calorie intake as well as your macro intake (fat/carbs/protein) upping your cardio to make up for a poor diet is just a waste of time IMO.

Who said anything about poor diet? I eat very healthy and clean. All I was wondering, was if it's necessary to drink a shake in the morning, followed by breakfast...

If 1/2 cup of oats IS your breakfast, I think a scoop of whey and oats is the perfect breakfast. If you have another protein source for breakfast in addition to your oats you can cut out your whey as longs as you are hitting your macros.

It's not only about eating healthy and clean. That's good. But you still need to know how many calories you are taking in, and count your macros

You're rustled over nothing. The point they are making is that you don't have to add cardio, all you need is to subtract calories. Now if heart health is an issue, cardio is king for that, just not necessary for weight loss.

This ^^ response demonstrates that you have much to learn. You can eat veggies and lean meats all day long and fail to reach your goals.

I suggest that you spend some time reading these four stickies from the nutrition forum:

This increase your portions at your meals and eating shortly after a shake does not aid muscle
