    Resistance Bands

So I can't go to the gym as often as I'd like now, and my lone bench and powerblock at home is a bit limiting in what I can do. I bought a set of bodylastics resistance bands to test. I admit my preonceptions about these (I mean come on- they're rubber bands), but they're great. I can do basically all pull down exercises now and the resistance is the real deal! Anybody else have experience with them?

Also, I have 3 disc herniations and with back surgery, I'm mostly recovered but I do feel it after heavy gym days. I think the resistance without the weight pushing down on my spine is a huge plus. I'm tempted to train mostly with these bands for a few weeks to see how my strength goes.

I use them for dynamic stretching. Really great for assisted stretches where you need to open up a hip or shoulder and then move it through a resisted range of motion.

Do you plan to deadlift again when healed? I'm in the same boat, less the surgery. Doing light SLDL, but I dunno if I'll ever risk heavy deads again.

no way, I'm as healed as can be (surgery in 04) and I think it's just not worth the risk anymore, especially with my new baby. It's my motivation to find alternatives to lifting. How did you injure yourself?

Deadlifting 365, trying to set a new PR. My IT band tore a little on the left side, the load shifted, and three discs popped. I can't see taking the risk again either.
