A little over a week ago, i participated in my very first figure competition. It was the Ohio Natural Northern in which I took first place class D (woot, woot!). For the show I used Pro Tan and was very pleased with how even the tan looked. But a few days later, I broke out in these weird hives. At first I thought it was razor bumps from shaving but I didn't shave specific areas of my upper body because I don't have visible hair. Those areas being my arms of course! It doesn't itch nor burn but looks like little red inflamed nodules all over my shoulders and arms. I've tried benedryl and 1% hydro-cortisone and if its helping it looks slow to clear up. I finally just made an appointment with the health clinic at my job. My fear is that they'll prescribe ingested steroids. I'm in season and do not want to test positive for anything. Anyone else deal with this?

I competed this past weekend using Pro Tan for my base, Dream Tan for my bronzer, and Hot Stuff to finish it off. I can't attribute the slight rash/bumps I have now solely to the Pro Tan (being that I used three products), but I am experiencing something similar. I've just been making sure I scrub thoroughly when I shower and applying aloe vera to any spots that itch and/or feel extra dry/bumpy. I don't think it's anything to worry about, though (unless it doesn't go away).
Lean bulkin' 'til i die.

I've had the same thing happen to me. Gets me every time I step on stage in the same areas as well. I've never had anything that's freaked me out enough to seek a professional but I did shower more frequently, kept the areas dry as best as i could and i also applied hydro-cortisone. within a week or 2 it started to clear up.

Thanks for your responses. I almost thought I was crazy. Mine is slowly clearing up and I hope that it hurries as I have another show soon. This time I'm going to just get the professional spray tan at the show. Not going to even take a chance!!!

Pro Tan has caused people to have symptoms of eczema in the past. Be sure to use a moisturiser, like Gold Bond eczema relief.
Coming from someone who's had eczema his whole life, it helps out a ton. I have to lotion up post shower, pre sleeping, pre work everyday. That's the only way to really help moderate eczema. =/ Your doctor will only prescribe things that cost ten times as much, which yield the same results.

My wife has had the same problem. We have used Jan Tana self rub on... and she has been professionally spray tanned. I forget what she was told was the problem. But she was told most tanning applications had it in them :/
