If i'm cutting calories to lose fat will i still gain muscle?

So i'm trying to work out my calorie maintenance using this formula omar isuf has provided. I'm just confused though.

I have belly fat I want to get rid of, so I should be cutting my calorie intake to be under my maintenance right? Well surely if I do this I don't gain muscle? I don't know someone help me please.

This can certainly be done but your diet as to be spot on, perfect without a hiccup. Cut your calories but keep your protein high and don't cut out all of the fat or you won't lose it. You will also need to do cardio. If you can, do it in the morning for 45 mins and following your lifts for 20-30.

    Thanks bro.

i'm a bit confused as to how this works. Surely If i'm cutting my cals then my body isn't provided with enough energy to create muscle? or am I missing something?

Unless you're on the gear this isn't happening, basically you want to minimize your muscle loss. Instead of being worried about putting on mass

I answered your question, can you not read? No, you will not gain muscle in a caloric deficit. Do you understand now?

He's not saying "you want to minimize muscle loss" as in this is information you're not privy to, he's saying that it should be your goal on a cut instead of "gain muscle" (which would obviously be great) because if you're trying to put on mass simultaneously you're going to end up disappointed and questioning yourself and perhaps making foolish adjustments to your diet/workout which was spot on to begin with.
