Nice sendoff for D Jeter http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2014/0...n_5885606.html
Seasons almost done, how did your team do?
Giants squeaked into the wild card and have so many injuries that it isn't looking good.

Nice to see Jeter finish off at Yankee Stadium on a high note, but overall, it was a very disappointing season. Age and injuries did us in, just like last year. Cashman is going to have to revamp the farm system. Right now, ours sucks.

Up and down season for the Jays. Had very good pitching for most of the season and for the first time in franchise history (I believe) all 5 starters reached 10 wins. We either had some of the best bats in the league going or the worst at times though and that's what sunk them. When they were swinging it felt like they were unstoppable but the dry spells were too long. Left way to many players on base and lost way to many 1 run games. Just need take 1 win against the O's to finish above 500. Whatever.
Oh well, like we say in the Toronto area for hockey and baseball teams, there's always next year
That was storybook last night for Jeter. Not a yank's fan by any stretch but that was very cool to see.365 255 480 in April! ...2019

Putting all the rivalry aside what an awesome farewell they gave him in Boston!

That was one of the best baseball games I've ever seen last night. I have absolutely nothing invested in either team and I was still glued to the tv. Thankfully it ended when it did. Getting up at 5 for work was tough lol

Thank God my Twins FINALLY had the sense to fire Gardy (too bad it was 3 years too late). Thinking Paul Molitor to replace him, which I would be fine with. The local media here wants them to hire Ozzie Guillen. Eff that noise.

That guy's amazing. On par with his rookie performance on Halloween in 2010 against the Rangers in the World Series. Just amazing.
Pretty happy about getting able to go to some playoff games this year! I've got tickets for the 1st NLDS game here (game 3, Monday Oct 6th), if the Giants and Dodgers both somehow make it to the NLCS I'll probably explode. I've got a couple of games drafted for the NLCS so hoping we make it there.
We don't do well against the Nats so I'm not super confidant about that... but it's October so who knows?! Peavy is running that show so maybe we've got some action, if he can get his two wins I'm sure we can find another.
If you can make it to DC on Saturday you have to go, you just have to. There's nothing in the world like being at a playoff baseball game.Don't listen to me, I'm in terrible shape.

Guillen's an idiot. He got lucky with the 2005 Sox. After that, his big mouth did him in.
Hiring Molitor wouldn't be the best idea. Granted, he's a smart baseball man, a HOF-er, and he knows the game...but the personnel he'd have to work with...you can't turn a sow's ear into a silk purse. The fans would be just as disgruntled with him once their team starts to lose. They need the players and they haven't got them."Don't call me Miss Kitty. Just...don't."--Catnip. Ugh that was tough to be at last night. After that grand slam the air was just sucked out of PNC last night.
As a lift long Pirate fan, being born and raised in Pittsburgh, I'm more than happy with how the season was this year. Last year we made the WC, this year we had a chance for the division on the last day. Hoping we lock up Martin for the next 2-3 years.
With the Steelers sucking so far, at least I got hockey starting on the 9th...OG

I've been to way too many horrible Bucco games growing up. But hey, when seats were 10 bucks and you can literally then sit anywhere in the park cause no one goes, unless it's bobblehead or sky blast night...not bad.
It was the first Pirate playoff game I've been to since 1991...I was pretty stoked. One thing is for sure at other ball parks you don;t really see fans dressing up and waving flags...however at a Pirate game just about anyone will have on a costume Pirate hat and waving some form of the jolly roger.OG

If I lived some place and all they had was a single A team that did nothing but lose, I'd still be there at least once a week.
Glad you get to see your Pirates doing well after so long, it's pretty fun stuff. Everything here changed in 2010, the fanbase is all new now and I'll bet 90% had never been to Candlestick to watch them. The new stadium is downtown so the real fans don't seem to get to the stadium as much, but they do show up for the playoffs.Don't listen to me, I'm in terrible shape.

I was at the Nat's vs. Cards game in 2012 where the Nats had it won, and Drew Storen gave it away, so i know the energy of playoff bball. I have the opportunity to go Friday and Saturday but may only make it to Saturday....we will see how the ticket situation plays out. Just remember it is an even year
