Agree with jamm!n, but it's a mixed bag.
Fremont's fresh hop "Cowiche Canyon" is among the best beers I've ever had in my life. Same Alpine Nelson kinda juiciness, but even better (if you can imagine).
I'd take that over their normal IPA/IIPAs any day.
We just brewed our fresh hop at the brewery, and the brewer told me it wasn't hoppy enough and he wished he had had more hops available to use, but didn't get enough -- which seems weird cause he had like 5 or 6 boxes stacked up.
Although, he's not into heavy late additions, sooooooooo who knows
IMO, you could get more "bang for your buck" by adding the bulk of the hops from 20 minutes down to whirlpool, right? I mean, taste is like 80% smell, and if you're bombing the beer late, you're getting way more floralness/presence out of the hops..Common Sense Crew

I read Cigar City started distributing some White Oak Jai Alai. Gonna grab a couple cans If I see it in stores. For anyone who has had it what's the difference between the regular and white oak?

secks. Last years wet hop HM was phenom.
this. Southern Tier's Harvest (wet hop) was really good last year but kinda crap this year. I liked Founders Harvest last year as well. But the best was Cowiche and Heavy Machinery.
Cowiche Canyon is definitely the best IPA there is. I think it's better than Edward or whateverthefuk the hillshire farms APA is called and Zombie Dust. We have a local APA that's pretty killer though; probably good enough for tradesies.Official Supp. Misc Beer Policeman

Modern times has some OK stuff on tap right now. Apparently the grapefruit fortunate islands is pretty good, but outside of that, not much to write home about. But keep an eye on their site and fb in case they tap a pilot or something over the weekend. If not, I'd start at Alpine.

ABW is my only salvation for IPAs. Love the HM series, and this year's cenntenial harvest is on point. A little better than last year's which was also awesome.
JK did a lottery for 500 tickets to receive a 4oz pour lulz. Our beer laws are still fukked, and they aren't allowed to sell pours. There will be an epic bottle share tomorrow at Jester King, but I don't feel like getting blackout drunk with 100+ people showing up with multiple bottles. Got tix to the Evil Dead musical tomorrow night.
Oh and I will look forward to hearing your review of Disshytter. Should be lulzy. Pro tip: drink it ice cold. It tastes like Imperial Budweiser as it warms.Last edited by cyde; 09-19-2014 at 03:19 PM.

Haven't been drinking at home much lately. But my alma mater is playing with the foozball tonight and I'm being lazy so I'm about to crack this El Segundo Mosaic. Hope it ain't old. For those relatively local, Stearns Liquor has added a whole new cooler since my last visit.
Run. Rave. Repeat.

Best Prairie label to date. Goddamn buiriful. No official information on this beer yet. Some people on BA are saying it's Apple Brandy Bomb! and others say it's just Bomb! with extra spices (cinnamon/nutmeg). Please Jeebus be the former.

^yeast samples are best mailed in flat rate boxes. Bubble wrap bottles and pack the box with filler material so there is absolutely no rattling/shaking when you jiggle the box - this part is key

My magnum hops got destroyed this year. infestation very sad. Will have to buy some hops this year to brew some good beer with the guys. nothing like fresh dried hops. What a shame. Cascade and Hell are still good.

^not sure why you'd grow magnum? It's a bittering hop and if you don't have it tested for AA%, you won't be able to calculate IBU's in your recipe

I mostly use FedEx for shipping beer and stick to bigger trades to make it worth shipping. Although I like USPS flat rate boxes for canned IPAs since they can cross the country in 2-3 days with minimal chance of breaks. Lots of bubble wrap, wadded newspaper, ziploc bags, and trash bags to prevent leaks. If shipping rare burrs you can't replace, double box.

decided not to go to Zwanze day.
We gotta move soon, and I'm trying to save up for a 3 bbl fermenter so I can contract brew. Trying to keep my priorities in order.
Also, strong wtf on the Cowiche delays. This is the longest it's ever taken for this beerCommon Sense Crew

Also, why hasn't any brewery made a "grumpkin" seasonal??
If I could tolerate pumpkin beers I'd totally do this... lolCommon Sense Crew

I pretty much only use USPS for shipping now, and just pray no one is wearing steel toe boots when they play soccer with our packages.
Tap list has been very solid at my new job, 3 taps in the office and seems to rotate pretty often. Last night they threw on Sculpin. Giving up working from home doesn't seem so bad anymore.MISC Beer Drinkers/Brewers Crew

Box, bag all bottles and most if not all cans, paper bomb the rest of the box.
wtf is a grumpkin
I used to be like you; great for shipping small stuff that you wanna get there ASAP but Fedex is still cheaper. The regional boxes are also nice except for when you're shipping say from Ca to NY or vice versa, then the price is borderline absurd.Official Supp. Misc Beer Policeman

I'm trying to avoid my Untappd today because there is a stupid huge bottle share for Zwanze day. Last time I went to one of those 50+ person shares, I couldn't remember half the shyt I drank.
USPS flat rate boxes are not worth using unless using cans with minimal packing materials. Medium flat rate boxes can fit (2) 4-packs of tallboys. Large can fit (4) 4-packs of tallboys. $17 to ship 288oz of beer is a pretty good deal for 2 shipping to assure fresh IPAs. I haven't tried using regular cans yet, so I'm not sure if that's worth shipping via USPS.
But yeah for everything else FedEx > all.

I got a 4 pack of white oak jai alai and had one. enjoyed it but I think I need to go back and get some more regular jai alai to really tell the difference lol. Only had regular jai alai once or twice and it's been ages.
