I was just wondering what is the best way or the best excersize or routine for developing the widest shoulders?
Any help appreciated

Not the best as far as mass/size building, but don't forget to hit the rear delts for overall balance- face pulls, bent over lat raises, rows; front delts get hit plenty from most pressing movements o don't need to worry much about them.
Short cuts to success are often paved with lies.
1/13/16: Massive hernia.
5/10/16: Finally back to lifting, light but improving.

I have been working on this for last 6 months especially, maybe can offer some advice (which works for me, not scientific or anything!)
-lateral raises: Holding onto something with one hand, do one dumbell raise out to the side keeping your shoulder relaxed (try not let traps do the work) and your arm straight. It has to be low weight to keep your arm relatively straight but there is a lever effect so its not really low weight- start at 8kg. This takes your traps out of the equation, which can have negative effect on looking wide.
-front raises: increase weight a little compared to lateral raises, you want to go past 90 to about 120 degrees to get full range of motion, and point dumbell into towards the center across your mid-line.
-rear delt flys: As someone else said, do rear delt flys, these don't harm your width
-arnold press: Hits all 3 delt heads evenly, I like go low weight and do at end of other shoulder exercises to finish them off.
-bent over cable flys: Simulate the swimmer technique of butterfly stroke
-wide-grip lat pull downs: Wide-grip lat pull downs with form over weight helps broaden your back and give you a V-taper.Last edited by afteraesthetics; 04-02-2014 at 04:19 AM.
