It isn't cherry-picking. It's picking the most recent data available for him. It's showing how hard he slumped when his BABIP dropped from historic rates.

it's kind of arbitrary/cherry-picking man. you posted a sample from aug 11th to the end of the year where his BABIP had overcorrected, a .259 BABIP over a full season would have been the lowest among qualifiers in baseball last year. if you had increased it just to include those first 10 days in august then you would have gotten a .273/.373/.487 line with a sustainable .313 BABIP. never said he was a superstar but those numbers are far better than league average

.371/.423/.599, 1.022 (OPS)

Puig through his last 52 games after his BABIP finally normalized to .300:
.261/.357/.461, .818 (OPS)

The real regression was in his last month/month in a half of games:
.237/.320/.442, .763 (OPS), .259 (BABIP)

puig reminds me of some (not all) of the domenican guys i have played with or against.

- incredible god given talent for baseball
- not the brightest guy in general
- no clue about baseball rules (unwritten or real rules)
- incredible proud and thinking he is the best baseball player ever lived
- lazy
- loving baseball to death

if he came up through the minors and actually played a couple of years in the minors stuff would be different. in the minors they would have gotten rid of his aditude, but now you have a 23 year old guy thinking he is the second coming.

btw, i don't want to see him fail. i don't really care.
