    Lactose intolerance

    Hi,

i've done tests and found out that i'm lactose intolerant.

i wonder if i can eat (non extra sugared) diary without being kicked out of ketosis?

anyone else doing keto & lactose intolerant?

ps. Maybe keto diet made me lactose intolerant, because i was able to tolerate all of the stuff from diary asortiment very well ...

You actually shouldn't be eating dairy on the Keto diet as lactose can be broken down into glycogen and stored in the liver which pushes you out of ketosis.

High fat Dairy is fine if it is low carb such as heavy cream, hard Cheddar etc... even the occasional slice of american cheese is fine. If lactose intolerant then avoid to your personal limit. Honestly i know when i am at my limit when i fart on the leg press machine and clear the area...
It is universally well known, that in digesting our common food, there is created or produced in the bowels of human creatures, a great quantity of wind. That the permitting this air to escape and mix with the atmosphere, is usually offensive to the company, from the fetid smell that accompanies it. That all well-bred people therefore, to avoid giving such offence, forcibly restrain the efforts of nature to discharge that wind.

yes, i'm aware of that... but as i can't digest lactose properly it means that lactose just passes through...

so i could eat some yoghurt or kefir without being pushed out of ketosis ?
    does that make any sense?

Just play with it.. I'm lactose intolerant and one good thing about keto is it keeps me away from most of the dairy that causes me issues.. No ice cream, milkshakes, milk, etc.. Those are the ones that leave me feeling like total death an hour later. Things like cheeses and whipped creme, heavy creme, etc, aren't nearly as bad on me. Cottage cheese doesn't seem to upset me much, but I don't eat it in large amounts at all and rarely on keto, if ever.. I find dairy is fine in moderation, maybe not as tightly controlled as carbs, but still controlled.
