I came in 5 minutes prior to the time my shift started.

Was written up because I didn't arrive 10 minutes prior, when my boss asked why "I was running a bit slow this morning" I informed him that there was a death in the family.

His response "Yeah well, wait until you have kids and they don't contact you for 7 years, then come and talk to me"

I typically show up at 0530 every day.

After his statement he said "I need you to show up 10 til every day, We're very shorthanded and we need you here"

I dunno man, OPs recall sounds pretty fukked to me. You should have to go to a work environment every day where some dickhead superior who's frustrated by life grinds you for something that seems reasonable. Just a point on this, most companies will include a segment of these kinds of documents which basically says that even if you do not sign it, its contents are still valid in the eyes of the company.

Hopefully that will never be relevant, but the more you know I guess.

It's more of a principal thing.

I used to enjoy working here, my previous supervisor was a good guy, new guy comes in and starts changing all kinds of policies and my entire shift apart from me and one other were like "LOL later bro heres my 2 weeks"
