    Preacher Pad is it necessary?

    I bought a bench today similar to this

    Except mine did not come with a preacher pad. Now my question is how important are preacher curls.Are there other excercises that will achieve the same results as a preacher curl that you can do?ie. can i live without it?

    A Preacher bench is not neccessary. If you want to mimic the exercise without the attachment do this:

    -Incline your bench to ~70 degrees(or whatever you want)
    -Stand behind the bench with the back of your upper arm resting on the inclined back pad
    -using a db do one arm db curls
    -repeat for other arm

    I rarely use my preacher attachment. The preacher curl exercise itself works brachialis muscles (the small muscles on the sides of the elbow) more than biceps anyway. IMO heavy barbell or EZbar curls are the best biceps exercises. Dumbbell curls and chinups are great too.

    I do that and i also have an arm blaster.

    I have botha preacher pad and an arm blaster.

    If money is a concern, get an arm blaster as its almost the same and usually 20-30 bucks.
    Note to self: don't yell out "beast mode" while switching to doggy style
