    You need to state your height, because bigger guys tend to have larger arms. Ill see some guy benching 225 at 6 foot. I see a lot of 1 plate, 25's and 35's. Not many 225's.

    My current work sets are 265x12'ish, but I've never tried to see my maximum reps on 225.

    I can bench 225x10, it took a long long time to get to 225, but once i got there my strength sky rocketed and i could bench 315 within 3-4 months of hitting 225.

    At my gym it's surprising how it's split between guys struggling with 100lbs or less and other group over 225lbs.

    where are these poverty gyms that only a handful of people bench over 2 plates

    every gym i've been at there have been plenty of guys putting up over 2 plates. gym i'm at now is an LA fitness and there's multiple guy that can put up 4 plate and rep 3 plate. it's an LA fitness in an urban area though, so maybe that's it.

    or...maybe once you start benching 2 plate you stop noticing guys that don't?

    last time I benched, it was 225 for a couple of sets of 8, close grip.

    although I took about 4 seconds to lower, held under tension for a second then slowly squeezed it back up by flexing my pecs.

    overhead press is a much better indicator imo
