I don't think so, but we also originated the hip-hop culture that influenced the chav look, so there is that. I also think of track suits for Eastern European soccer obsessed bros. There is a Russian dude that wears alot of Adidas and Kappa suits to my gym lol. Nice guy though, I spotted him for his bench reps last night actually.
Sup brah I know you from the Misc Med Students threads. From my understanding, the medical profession in the upper east is still rather traditional, and it is expected you dress professionally (as opposed to, say UC Irvine where you can get away with jeans). Obviously this is right up S&P alley so you've came to the right place.
You can certainly get the basics down for $150. I'd look at the OP of this thread since there is lots of good advice on how to start budget shopping there. Alot of us including me like Lands End which is basically a cheaper version of Brooks Brothers (one of the GOAT brands that we all adore here ITT). LE usually has lots of sales too, and offer "tailored" fits. I also like JCrew, but specific for the workplace, I love Lands End for the budget. (Then BB once you get dat doctor money)
You're not necessarily too far into Spring season but you have missed out on a lot of the preview sales. I do know Brooks Brothers will be running a 25% off full price item sale starting today (5/6) to May 12th. And Nordstrom has a great semi-annual Men's sale usually in late June where you can buy a pair of Allen Edmonds dress shoes at their lowest price generally found anywhere. The de facto dress shoe is the cap toe Park Avenue which will go down to $200 in the Nordstrom sale. Yes, still expensive, but this is a shoe that will last through your rotations and on through your practice. You can re-sole these shoes every 3-4 years. You can't do that with a cheap pair of Aldos!
With you current budget of $150, I'd get 2 dress shirts in solid white and light blue and in OCBD (oxford cloth button down...the collars with those buttons) or spread collar. Then a pair or two of plain front chinos in khaki (lighter) and/or British Khaki (a darker hue), and one pair of breathable wool dress slacks in charcaol or navy blue. Land's End has them on sale for $60 atm. Mix and match with ties, belts, etc and these 4 items will carry you through your rounds without anyone noticing. That is what you want in your basics...the key items of your budding new wardrobe...clothes that are durable but are minimal: for maximum use and applicability.
Once you have more money to spend, I'd look into those Park Avenues and a pair of loafers. Look into Allen Edmonds "executive" and "dress orthodontics" collections too, for work shoes that are comfortable and practical.
eBay and Craigslist are your friend. So are thrift shops (Macklemore had it right!). I also have more advice and can answer further questions on my S&P-oriented blog, link below.
Lastly, I leave you with some inspiration. Back in the day I was in pharmacy school (since decided to go for a different path in a non-clinical and more lucrative career in healthcare consulting). Here are some outfits I had with my white coat during my summer rotations. Some are a bit loud perhaps, but I had fun with it. You should have the excuse to have fun too! (Just save the blue pants maybe for NYU Presbyterian and not for the public health clinic for the indigent haha).Last edited by inq; 05-06-2014 at 05:12 PM.

Would sell the lacostes (srs). Don't like them at all.
The polo sneakers look alright for casual wear (Going to the gym, running, streetwear, etc.).
Tip: To clean sneakers, mix baking soda w/ laundry detergent in a small container and use a brush to scrub the shoes. Wash off dirt as you scrub. Will make any shoe look brand new.⚓ SPERRY && POLOS CREW ⚓

^+1 lmfao. repped
If wearing loafers or boat shoes gets you called a ***got...
A) You are hanging out with the wrong types of people. Your friends sound really shallow to hate on you because of the shoe you choose to wear.
B) Stop caring so much what others think. 'waaaaahhh, people might make fun of me'. I come from the ruralest of the rural in PA; anything with a collar is considered fancy. People showed up to formals and semi-formals in plaid shirts and (dirty) boots at my HS. Did I get looks wearing khakis and ocbds? yea, every now and then. But everyone was still polite about their opinions, and biches still complimented me so who gives a fukk. As long as you are secure in yourself, that's all that matters.⚓ SPERRY && POLOS CREW ⚓

+1 to Ernie.
If you still get called a ******* for dressing nicer than your friends, chances are they're just urban youths that have only ever known to wear snapbacks along with their camo cargo shorts.
If you ain't talking S&P, then I don't want to talk. You can tell my loafers are cordovan by the way I walk.

really feeling the 'need' for some of those white bucks a couple of the brahs in here have to go with those navy & sea blue chinos from bonobos, shorts, etc.. anyone got a brand for a decent but cheaper brand?
also on the fence of dropping $200 on 3 BB shirts and a pair of those brushed twill chinos.. grrr"We Spartans are said to be descended from Hercules himself. Taught never to retreat, never to surrender. Taught that death in the battlefield in service to Sparta is the greatest glory he could achieve in his life. I've always heard the Nordstrom 1901 line is great, and they're only $99.

last year i went full french fries and took EC before fasted LISS, heart rate was going nucking futs. make sure you eat afterwards, take good amount of fish oil and EFA's, and start w. a low dose
personally i'd rather have the navy or white one"We Spartans are said to be descended from Hercules himself. Taught never to retreat, never to surrender. Taught that death in the battlefield in service to Sparta is the greatest glory he could achieve in his life. Spartans, the finest soldiers the world has ever known." ΜΟΛΩΝ ΛΑΒΕ!!
