From Vancouver, I do agree with opie on some things such as extremely high cost of living, awful weather majority of the year and the chitty job market here, but lettuce beef cereal, i'd rather enjoy what Vancouver has to offer such as amazingly beautiful summers, mountains in the backyard, the scenery and cleanliness of the city minus the east side instead of living in flatland buttsecks no where alberta. U seem like you have a negative outlook OP, grass is always greener on the other side. On another note, how does a white brah in Van get some asian pooc, haven't been out much lately and have been infected by the yellow fever.

And yet so many canadians cross the border to the u.s to take advantage of that low cost of living. U.S hardly if at all the benefits from sharing a border with canada, while canadians benefit much more. Tired of paying so much for everything? Easy just cross to the u.s and do your shopping paying alot less for everything including gas, even canadian beer cost more in canada then it does in the u.s. Tired of high taxes, high cost of living like buying a house? Again just take the proper procedure and become a U.S citizen (or even better if you have dual citizenship) and just move to the U.S and pay half or less for a house . Tired of bulls*** guns laws, not being allowed to defend yourself? Cross into the u.s (of course a state with gun rights) and own firearms for whatever you want even self defense. Sick of the long depressing winters? Again you border a country that has Florida, Texas, Arizona, Vegas, California, or any southern states that rarely or never have to deal with that at all . Are you canadian and want to become a big Hollywood actor? Well you border the country that has Hollywood. Having a rise in violent crimes or gun violence? Easy, just blame it on the us, we'll take the blame because of our "violent culture" so you can continue to come off as a peaceful nation. Even canadian athletes are getting full ride scholarships to Top D1 U.S universities to play sports like baseball, football, basketball and getting drafted to play in our professional leagues to make millions. You border and are allies with one of if not the most powerful military in the world, no one will ever f*** with you, regardless if there is a reason to f*** with you or not no one ever will because of this. Aside from maybe paying less to go to uni or getting "free" healthcare, and helping the economy by coming and buying our stuff, the u.s doesn't benefit very much and yet canadians (weather you want to admit it or not) benefit much more. But yet are some of the biggest U.S haters/bashers on the planet. *******s

My only gripe is the high cost of living. Groceries are expensive as ****, especially because I live in Vancouver Island. I go to the mainland and food costs are almost halved. I drive across the boarder and food prices are a mere fraction. It's way too insane.
Taxes are incredibly high as well. Seems like all the deductions take nearly half your paycheque. If you're a homeowner, property taxes are brutal too. Every summer I pay just under $4000 and I still have to pay the mortgage too.
