I think it's outside of their control, because you hear stories of kids growing up being bullied and feeling insecure about being gay, but they cant do anything to change it.

Its never been proven. For such a supposedly important question, its been studied very poorly. I think perhaps that some would not like the answers they found. Personally, I have a hard time believing it is as simple as having a gay gene. We have countless millions of genes where there are likely hundreds that determine your hair....type, color, texture, baldness, etc...so spare me from making it sound so simple that people are born definitively gay or straight.
I believe it is likely that certain genetics make you predisposed to be explore homosexuality of course...but we have millions of genes and environment and decision making are required as well.
If it was simple genetics, then gay people would have been bred out of the population a long time ago, because that gene would lesson your chances for procreation and survival. Since most of the miscers are aetheists who believe in complete common ancestor evolution over millions or billions of years, it would be hard to argue for both common ancestor evolution and being gay as genetic.

In the end, who gives a **** what causes some folks to like same sex. There are millions of gheys out there and they're not going anywhere, so we might as well accept them for what they are and move the phuck on already.
