Hey everyone. I've been taking the GNC AMP Ripped protein since October and it's been going well but I just feel like it isn't doing the job anymore. I'm thinking about switching to Optimum Nutrition Hydro Whey but I wanted to hear what people have to say about it first. I remember when I first started taking protein, I used the 100% Whey but I would sometimes feel bloated with it and I don't want that to happen now since I'm toning up my abs for the summer. Does that happen with this too? I'm trying to stay as lean as possible while still trying to put on some more size, which was what the Ripped protein is supposed to do. Would the Hydro-Whey be my best bet or does anyone have any other proteins that they would recommend instead of this? Thanks in advance for the responses guys, much appreciated!

Again another opinion. You can show one source stating that and I can show you one that states otherwise. Do you plan on contributing with facts? Check this out from a pretty pretty good source. http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases...0818132225.htm

Lmao at the article. Did you even read it?
8 ppl on first study...
Anyway, this has nothing to do with your argument. This doesn't say 25 g hydro whey is better than protein from beef.
The study came to the conclusion that 25g of protein immediately after exercise was more beneficial than 2.5 g spaced out 10 times.Last edited by Smoker145; 03-19-2014 at 09:07 PM. Reason: Expand

Do yourself a favor and read the stickies and topics in the Nutrition section before becoming an official broscientist. Next you'll be telling us about the anabolic window and needing a shake within an hour of completing your workout.
Alan Aragon and Lyle McDonald are two you also should look up and read there material.Progressive overload + progressive eating = gains. Simple as that!

There is a ton of misinformation in here OP.
Just use whichever protein powder you like the taste, macros and price of, and use it to help you meet your protein macros.
IMHO it is not worth investing in a hydro protein, you pay a premium and it will make no difference on your body composition versus using a whey concentrate, blend etc.Official MuscleTech Representative

Hmm that's true, but what about Optimum Nutrition Pro Complex? I heard that's pretty good too but I don't think the protein is completely isolate.
The ripped protein was supposed to still build muscle while maintaining a "ripped" physique. Like it has green coffee bean extract in it and stuff. It's almost like a thermogenic protein that you can take either before or after the gym but I don't feel like it's having that great of an effect anymore, nor is it really benefitting my muscles after the gym. That's why I'm trying to switch it up and see if something else would work better, however, I still don't want to have that bloated feeling after a shake.

Just buy protein from a reputable brand name like ON, Dymatize, Scivation, etc.
I know a lot of smaller companies that are selling whey often list the aminos as proteins on the label and count that in the total grams per serving.

1) Timing not relevant because one meal in the context of your diet in totality is not wholly relevant.
2) Hydrowhey and GNC AMP are a giant waste of cash, protein is protein
3) Isolate is typically only worth the extra cash if you're lactose intolerant and don't want to move to egg or vegetable based protein powders.
4) Pick a protein powder that you like the taste and fits your budget
5) Use powder whenever to meet your macro by end of day.
None of this is important if you don't have your diet in order and protein powder isn't going make someone "huge" or "ripped." Don't shop at GNC.
