Does anyone know a company/place in North America (Canada specifically) that sells plates, 1 or 2 inch, at a decent price? They seem to be going for roughly 1$/pound, which seems fairly expensive, unless I'm just mistaken and in for a slightly larger investment.

$1/lb is a typical price for new plates, at least in the USA. At that price, you can expect Chinese-made plates that may or may not weigh as much as their stated weight, and are poorly cast to the point where they will booger up your bar.
The going rate for these plates on Craigslist in the USA is about $.50/lb.[]---[] Ivanko Barbell Crew #29 []---[]

Kiji may be your best bet, though York Fitness is producing plates in Canada and you may be able to get a better price through a York dealer.
You need a good rack, a bench, and a 300-lb Olympic weight set. Now, what was your question?

Fitness depot sells cheap plates
Treadmill factory, too.
York in located just outside Toronto so you may be able to get plates directly from them? There used to be a York rep on this site....can't remember her name. If one of the other members here can remember she might be able to help you out, too.

Allison Foreman. If you google her, you'll find her email and phone number.
