I agree with the job, crap pay and lack of wife material these days. Not only was a good paying job much easier to get back then, but the cost of living was much much lower.

ANY respectable white collar prefession requires atleast a bachelors. Statistics don't mean chit since they include all the baby boomers that got lucrative jobs without degrees. As time goes on the majority of people will have degrees or some form of post secondary education. Good luck finding any job above minimum wage with just a hs diploma you dumbphuck

You mean because you can't find any statistics to support your position, and you're just going to throw a pity party for yourself while the rest of us are out there getting it done.
BTW - if you want to blame anybody for the current economic situation, you could probably include mortgage brokers and realtors. The sheer amount of fraud that they have engaged in is absolutely stunning...and I'm talking about outright fraud, coaching borrowers on how to commit fraud, etc.

Lol wtf is this chit means nothin onviously a computer is gonna be 10,000 when its first coming out because it probably took them a chit ton of time to make and so many resources. nowadays when everything is mass produced and it takes like 30 minutes to machine manufacture an ultrabook 10x as powerful as any computer back then obviously its gonna be a fuk ton cheaper..by this standard the newer generation is almost always guranteed to be easier to live in regardless of the economic situation because ****s always more expensive when it first comes out

This.
Most of the "males" of this generation waste more time on their ****gy social media accounts (********/twitter/instagram) than spending time reading books, learning new skills, working with their hands, and going outside and networking. Every single one of these *******s prides himself on his e-fame and thinks he is going to make it big as a entrepreneur or youtube millionaire. They get by in life depending on mommy and daddy's finances never becoming independent or learning the value of a dollar. Instead of buckling down and putting in the work to be successful they make threads like these and whine to everyone about "how hard it is" to be young in today's society. And these *******s wonder how come they can't find work after college when they expect 100k/year jobs to be handed to them once they finish getting their non-STEM degree.
If you have time to misc/********/twitter etc then you have time to learn new skills that can help you become a better prospect for hire in your work field. In today's internet information age here is no excuse for not being able to diversify your personal skillset (FREE online courses from Stanford university, itunes U, codeacademy and many other examples) in areas that you have interest in or are passionate about. *******s nowadays are just entitled and lazy.

Some of the main problems
1. Baby boomers are not retiring. They are holding to their jobs. Generation X is definitely not retiring.
There is this sense in the job market that Generation Y is not worth hiring. Older experienced guys are better valued. So is their work mentality which is less "renegade".
2. Alot of Generation Y have Bachelor' degrees, even masters. Gen X & Baby boomers did not NEARLY have as many degree educated people.
Basically this means that when Gen Y enter market, there's another 1000 candidate with same or better degree for position. Hence why you have generation Y still doing unpaid internship or **** work or even no work.
Back in the day of my parents...If you looked good, hit the street and networked like a ninja...You could literally get yourself a banking or high level business job with sheer will. Today this is possible but like 0.00001% of the hiring.
Now you have to jump through 10000 hoops to get a good job. And worst of all, all gen Y candidates are jumping thru those hoops so you have too.
Its a very difficult environment...And I say this as a Gen Y business graduate with 3.9 GPA Finance degree from very good school.
On the social level...I will say something controversial but I think Technology has more ****ed the job market and the mentalities than helped.
We are a generation addicted to internet. This has a bad impact on how we behave, I myself am trying to limit my internet to couple hours per day max.
But even at work the Internet is available. So it messes everything up.
Good luck all...Persevere! The thing is never to give up and be happy no matter ur situation!

I haven't read this whole thread, but I think I agree with OP.
Having to live in this world with internet, emails, no jobs, no security, etc really sucks for young people coming up. You are being forced to be super aggressive at an early age to ensure financial success in life. This attitude translates through to all aspects of your lives and will affect your relationships, your tolerances, your health...
No nostalgia, but I remember growing up as a kid, and even into late teen years without having any of the concerns the modern kid has and I imagine the way I grew up was healthier overall. More time for fun / fukkin around, parents were around more and had much more involvement and influence in my life and happiness, not locking the doors at night, leaving your car windows down in the summer at the mall parking lot, being way, way more physically active just because that was normal, girls were more down to earth...could g on and on.
Having access to technological advancements is like having the distance you have to swim to safety significantly shortened...but if there are 200 times more sharks in the water now, it doesn't help much. Feels for you younger guys

The bitching in this thread has illustrated the bolded part quite nicely. When I get a resume across my desk, I'd rather go with someone who isn't going to be an entitled brat.
