-54yrs old
-been working same job for 30 years, hasn't even tried to change it (answers a phone at a hospital) basically a slave.
-never has money to do anything, always looks for sales on food.
-comes home from work, sits on couch all day doing nothing but looking at dumb tv programs.
-has a man who is also doing nothing with his life, sit on couch with my mom staring at tv like a zombie.
-never exercises.
-never does anything with her life, basically lives in isolation. work then home, repeat.
-seems unhappy or stressed all the time
-smokes cigarettes, had breastcancer and survived, still smokes.
And the thing is that my mom isn't dumb, which you would assume reading those things above.
so my question really is that what makes a person live a life like that? simply just a 'low-watt'' brain? can't figure it out..
I've tried to give advice to her but she doesn't listen.

It would kill me to see my mom like that. Have you tried doing things with her? Even something small could help her out, srs. When my mom was going through rough time I used to go for walks with her, I never really thought much of it but she later told me how much she appreciated it and how it helped get through that particular time.

bro...i feel like
srs though, that is sad, i really hope something someday will help bring your mom out of this state and she can live a hapy fulfilling life.
Have you discussed this with your mom that you want better for her...try taking her out for a good time, go bowling or something that shows that you care. buy her flowers and tell her that she is beautiful and that you want her to be happy in life.
Good luck OP

Did you actually TALK to her or just "hey have you thought about like getting a hobby or something". She might be depressed. It's your fukking mom bruh, have a sit down with her. This is what I'm scared will happen with my mom when she retires, she basically made her life all about us (her 3 sons) which made a great life for us and still makes a great life for her, but she doesn't really have much in the way of a social circle except those friends she'll maybe go out to dinner with once a year to catch up with. I'm hoping she at the very least finds a nice guy to spend some time with. I'm just scared she'll get depressed and lonely as fuk when my youngest brother moves out.

you do realise your mum is just a sloot who is old.
look at girls around you. do you see them going places in life?
real talk. im sure she's really nice, but women aren't exactly known for their ambition to succeed in all parts of life and better themselves.
i once had your mindset. then i realised 'women and hobbies/most productive things' don't really fit.

thiis.
unfortunately, many people are just almost satisfied just living out life. kind of depressing really. actually, a very small amount of people want success and to be the best they can be. people talk all this chit about "oh i'm gonna work hard" but it's all empty words.
my moms the same way with fitness. she needs to get working out. she knows a ton about fitness, but just doesn't actually do it. really hard to light a fire under someone's ass though who doesn't have the internal drive.

i know those feels bro
my mom is the sweetest woman in the world but over the last couple years shes really taken a turn for the worst. shes had a lot of health problems from smoking cigarettes and living unhealthy. she doesnt work anymore and basically just watches tv all day. it eats me up inside knowing shes living like that. my brothers and i tried to help her and when i lived at home with her i'd try and help her with bills, cleaning, food, etc. but shes too subborn to really change her ways. as morbid as it sounds it seems like she's just given up completely. she made her life all about me and my brothers but when my mom and dad divorced and my older brother and i moved out it seems like she has nothing left. one of my brothers still lives at home but he has a weird relationship with my mom and is dependent on her for almost everything (hes 27 years old) so it doesnt help the situation at all
