LOLOL
That must have been terrible...seriously. Sometimes, being nice can get you in way more trouble than it's worth.
lol yes...where have you been at? We've discussed this lots of times. If you have been in a deficit for some times, and then refeed on carbs, you can still lose weight because your hormones don't automatically adjust for fat storage...they are still primed to fat burning. I might have said that all effed up, but Lyle McDonald describes in better sciencey detail on his site bodyrecomposition.com

If anyone loses weight immediately post-refeed, then they are probably doing a European-style Little-Girl refeed and not a bona fide American He-Man refeed.

Lol'd while reading (haven't seen this particular one)...I definitely have alcohol whooshes. Once, I was stalled on psmf, had a few Bud Light Platinums (very low carbs, and yes I know you aren't supposed to drink on psmf), and I was significantly leaner / lighter the next morning.
Edit: "Folks who do have problems with water retention tend to have stalls and whooshes, those who don’t show nice consistent visual changes."
Makes so much sense. I have the worst water retention (can gain or lose 10lbs in 2-3 days), and it seems like I'm constantly going back and forth between stalls and whooshes.
BTW....anyone else hear about the spazzing out of Lyle McDonald recently? Racial slurs and all...also went off on Jason Blaha. Alan Aragon trying to keep the peace. Never knew there was so much drama in the nutrition world.Last edited by missladyj; 09-17-2014 at 01:37 PM.

I never stalled during the "low" portion - I'd drop 5-8 lbs in the 3-4 low-cal/carb days and gain most of it back by the end of the refeed.
There is no way I'd lose more water after eating a kilogram of pure carbs, cause there wasn't any to readily lose, and you don't lose actual fat that fast. I could see it happening if you weren't dropping much water during the low-carb/cal phase (the UD2 glycogen depletion workouts seem to be a factor IRT this), though. I must say that I generally always looked leaner after a refeed, because I had an extra 5% of temporary LBM.
I netted about a pound a week of actual tissue loss, which was what the book (and overall weekly deficit) said to expect. But the overall weight swings were generally pretty regular. Also, Serp and I don't have large quantities of girly-hormones in our system to mess with our scale and feelz.Way more Xtreme Fitbitter than MissLadyJ or kureransu

haha! and this is true........
I think I recall gaining on straight up UD2.0 as well when doing the refeed, but for some reason lost doing the refeed after a long psmf. Who knows exactly why... considering I am female, could be all kinds of chit. I guess, in that case, it does make sense that a male who loses immediately after a refeed probably isn't doing a true refeed.

I was just trying to live up to the "ornery" part of my persona, not being serious about proper refeeds and what-not. I hear of people losing weight on refeeds quite often here.

Find an old ipod nano in a box from recent move. Didn't know how I got it, must have found it or somebody left it at my last place and I shoved it in a drawer.
Wanted to see if it worked, but didn't have 30-pin cable for charging/syncing.
Google serial number to identify model/generation so that I would order correct cable.
Google told me that it's a first generation nano.
Google also told me that Apple is replacing all 1st generation nanos with latest-gen nanos because of a battery issue.
Fill out online form on Friday, get return box from Apple on Monday, dropped off old nano at Fedex Monday night.
New nano has already shipped, supposed to arrive tomorrow.
I still love to hate Apple, and still hope that if I ever buy an iphone that some assassin puts a couple .22 shorts from a silenced semi-auto into my temple, but that is awesome sticking-behind-your-product-ness. I mean that's like a 8-9 year old device.
Or maybe it's more along the lines of really-not-wanting-to-get-suedness.
Either way it's pretty cool.Way more Xtreme Fitbitter than MissLadyJ or kureransu

I had to work out in jeans today because I forgot my shorts. Was super uncomfortable and I looked like an idiot. Had to smile and yell "I forgot my shorts" and point at my jeans to everyone who looked at me.
It was awful.Started 2013: 450 lbs

Y'all know I love to travel by now, but the idea of going to Sandusky, OH in November doesn't sound too appealing. Isn't the Midwest a frozen tundra by then?

Pasteries of peace in the office this morning.
People have resorted to trying to force me to eat them (asked by the person who brought them about 4 times in a row to have one, said person weighs about 400lbs). I'm rustled. =/
Brb blowing away 500+ calories on a pastry and then having to readjust the rest of the day to hardly eat anything.
I'm going to start calling them Food Bullies.Thus let me live, unseen, unknown;

No one can make you doing anything you don't want. Why not just take a pastry or a portion, take a small taste and then throw the rest away when 400lb friend looks the other way?

Kure, thanks to you I am obsessing about ramen right now. We have a few really good ramen houses close by too, but the salt wreaks havoc on me for days.Last edited by barbrox; 09-18-2014 at 09:58 AM.

Ah, the slim and petite guy who wants to use Zumba to lose his stubborn belly fat. Zumba + hula hoops? We should request a video or suggest he could increase the fat burning potential by using at least 2 or 3 hula hoops simultaneously. My mother credits hula hoops for helping to conceive me. Haha
Please shoot me if I ever go to a zumba class.
I have some japanese soup bases at home. Maybe I'll make some tonight with shirataki noodles and shrimp.Last edited by barbrox; 09-18-2014 at 10:30 AM.

Wot O_o. I'm much stronger than to cave to other people's view on how I should treat my body. I know why they do it.. they feel bad about downing junk food and want me to take part. I've discovered a pattern with them.
Lol. How about Jazzercise? O_OThus let me live, unseen, unknown;

Oh! I misunderstood. I thought you caved in. Whoops. :/
Jazzercise??? A quick death would be too kind. A co-worker was a former Jazzercise instructor for many, many, many years. Conversations, no matter the subject, would ultimately lead to "when I was teaching jazzercise" blah blah blah...
And have you seen those outfits?!?! Shiny tights, leotards, and headbands. No way jose.
Lol, that's a good idea though.
I love shirataki noodles. The regular ones (sans tofu) are great for asian-style dishes, like soups or simple stir-fries. They're very similar in flavor and texture to cellophane noodles or japanese noodles. The ones with tofu that are marketed to be like pasta are good as well, but the texture can be unpleasant. They are mushy, not "al dente" how most people prefer their pasta. I use the spaghetti shirataki whenever I have, well, spaghetti. For the fettucine variety, I like to use them like wide rice noodles and make chowfun or pad see ew.
Edit: Oh, I forgot to mention something important. Shirataki stinks when you first take it out of the package. It smells really fishy. You need to rinse it thoroughly before cooking it.Last edited by barbrox; 09-18-2014 at 11:40 AM.

WTH is that? It looks straight out of a Dexter episode.
Yeah, I was giving him the benefit of the doubt at first that English was not his native tongue. But if he is willing to hula hoop for an hour, he's probably OK with being petite and is full-on Broadway mode like biggoron. Not that there is anything wrong with that.
Speaking of Broadway, at the insistence of family and coworkers, I have listened to the soundtrack of the Broadway musical The Book of Mormon, pretty much every morning for the last week. It's so (hilariously) offensive it probably beats my Slayer and old-school gangster rap in terms of lyrics I should not sing/chant/whatever in public. Now I kind of wish that I saw it when it was in Seattle not long ago. But I still wouldn't hula-hoop.
For whatever reason, when they break out the tap number I crack up:

Last month I was walking along the boardwalk and under this big gazebo was forty or so people doing zumba. Mostly older women, a lot of them Latin. They looked to be enjoying themselves a whole lot. I just don't know if I can ever be friends with someone who rejects free pastries. SRS.
Especially since I always buy some for people.
