I havent read all this thread.
But i would be happy in answering peoples' specific questions on the matter, with logic and understanding.
I saw a couple of things about the story of Christ was takin from different religions, etc.
I hope you people realize that these other religions took from the story of CHrist to make their own........how is this so?
THe OT prophesied about Christ before any of these other religions that have the "same story" as Christ came about.
So in actuality, the story of CHrist was told before he was even alive. Which is why people can say that it is not Christianity that stole from other religions but other religions stole from Christianity.
Prophesy is the key.

While I agree with what you posted, the universe is calculated to be much older.
Age of the universe is estimated to be 13.7 billion years since we astronomers are unable to see or measure any other objects past the range of 13.7 billion light years.
Earth however is estimated to be around 4.5 billion years old and there is a massive amount of evidence to prove it.Accutane crew.

Bro I do not live my life trying to convince others that there is no god. Don't flatter yourself. I just stumbled upon this thread. And of course you can not win an argument with a creationist. You set your views in stone and contort the evidence to fit your fairy tale in even in the face of pure evidence.

Exactly, and if all Christians would realize this, the world would be a much better place. People believing its literal/scientific has been the cause of a massive wave of scientific ignorance, specifically in America.
Its sad man. But I'm pretty sure that within a few generations we will be cured of this ignorance, and everyone will be better off. ESPECIALLY religious people, because they'll be able to turn on a science show on TV without feeling like their faith is being attacked.Misc Cologne Crew

I said religious people but I admit Christians aren't as bad as they were before but they still persecute nonbelievers and "sinners", just not always violently like a certain religion of peace does nowadays but still.

brb, "we need the bible to tell us what's right and what's wrong"
brb, so you beleive in the parts about stoning your neighbor for working on sundays?
brb, "no, that bit's not right anymore"
brb, i thought you said you need the bible to know what was right and what's wrong, so how can you say part of the bible is wrong?
brb, "because its not relevant anymore"
brb, but if you know that, then why do you need the bible for the rest of your morals in the first place?
brb, "because we need the bible to tell us what's right and what's wrong"
thus goes the circular logic of christians*says 'negged' but doesnt actually neg crew*

If you read my other post, I said I have no problem with Christianity brah. I'm on your side. I want Christianity to survive. My Mom is Christian and faith turned her life around, made her one of the nicest people I know.
But it has to be willing to accept science, and stop fighting against it. Thats all.Misc Cologne Crew

Stop being so sensitive. I wasn't being condescending, it's called debating. Truth is I love all people regardless of their beliefs. And I don't believe in nothing just as a side note. I believe in forgiveness and helping others and the spirit of humanity and the beauty of reality. Just don't believe in fairy tales

How would you interpret these then?
Some examples from the link:
"If a man lies with a male as with a women, both of them shall be put to death for their abominable deed; they have forfeited their lives." (Leviticus 20:13 NAB)
Whoever strikes his father or mother shall be put to death. (Exodus 21:15 NAB)
They entered into a covenant to seek the Lord, the God of their fathers, with all their heart and soul; and everyone who would not seek the Lord, the God of Israel, was to be put to death, whether small or great, whether man or woman. (2 Chronicles 15:12-13 NAB)
http://www.evilbible.com/Murder.htm
And yes I know strong link. But the bible says not to kill in the commandments, and then says gays should be put to death. Using how you interpreted the quote of cutting off your hand above. How would you interpret these? srs

Muslims say that there is only 1 God and that he neither begets or gets begot. They believe that Christ is the "second most powerful" and is seated by the Father, but that he didnt die but will return one day. And that because he is this way (second most powerful) no one would be able to kill him if he did come to earth.
Jews think that the one prophesied in the OT still hasnt come and that Christ did not fulfill that prophesy.

If you really want to know the answers, check out the book I'm currently reading in my sig. It doesn't look like your mind will be changed debating on a forum or even reading s book but at least you'll know why the OT laws are how they are.

Both sides of this argument who go over the top are f'n jokes. I get tired of both sides acting like they are superior (one morally & one intellectually)
I'm in the group that just doesn't know. I'd like to think that if there is and I get to the "pearly gates" I'll be able to answer honestly about my lack of faith. I can't live a lie and say I believe in something when I just don't.6'3" crew checking in
