My younger sister and her husband are DINKs. I ask them "who is going to care for you when you are 70-80 and need help or even more direct care?" - something to think about. Kids aren't just for tax deductions and for doing chores around the house.

Not a good enough reason, IMO. I'm not going to have kids just to have someone to take care of my old a$$. I will be in a home or be dead by that point. I don't want to be a burden on anyone, esp my kids. Allan and I plan on going out in style anyway

I got up to 195k on my GMC before I sold it in 2011, currently sitting at about 124k on my Subaru. Really been putting miles on it since commuting to Elite...I have an issue with the steering (non-critical), but otherwise the thing is a ****ing tank. My next car will probably be an Impreza WRX...once I get this bad boy to 200k, probably. Income's no problem, I just see no reason to be paying interest and principal on a car loan or wasting money on another car when this thing's utility is still higher than maintenance costs or trade-in allowances.

Subaru's do make a nice car overall, and the WRX is no exception. I'd probably get a BRZ if money/weather was no option.

Completely agree Ice. And I must say, having my kids being 16 years of age (daughter) and my son being 11, I am already starting to miss those 'growing' years. And if I wasn't fixed, I would have another in a heartbeat right now. Because the feeling of being a Dad is unmatched. I mean my kids are still the center of my universe, but let's be honest once they start to hit the teens years the amount of time they want to spend directly with you starts to decrease. And I'm feeling that already a bit

I agree as a new father it is awesome. Tons of work but awesome. My daughter turns 1 in a month. That said, you have to want to be a parent. If the desire isn't there then it's the best decision to not have them!
