i was speaking of the general process we all went through as kids. We are afforded the ability to choose what we like to do regardless of the general sexual demographic of said activity or thought,. Being transgender and wanting to become one isn't okay and IS in fact a symptom of mental illness and a lack of accepting unchangable aspects of your reality. I'd also like to note there is actually biological reasons explaining why some people "are women minds trapped in a males body" or vice versa. Anyone who says other wise is ignorant to the topic and has not researched the biological mechanisms behind gender identity.

Despite that...I don't think she should be allowed to compete, purely because it seems like she was fairly developed before gender reassignment surgery and hormones, thus giving her an advantage IMO.

You are right, Gender Identity Disorder exists in the DSM...but you know that the treatment is, hormone replacement, and gender reassignment surgery. The reason, it is impossible to will yourself to have the mind of another gender...therefore the only thing that can be changed is the biological sex. It is not that they WANT TO become a man/female, it is that they are a man/woman in an opposite sex's body. It is a biological problem, not a mental one. If you disagree, you are not disagreeing with me, you are disagreeing with the consensus by biologists and psychologists.

Then again I will repeat, I still do not believe she should be allowed to compete in the female category. But denying the biological cause of GID is silly.

The sticky part of this is that she went through 100% reassignment surgery and got her birth certificate changed legally to a female.

So, according to law everything is 100% legit for claiming female. The law is on her side. Its not like she got all the surgery and her birth certificate says otherwise.

The issue is that her genetic makeup is not the same as other female competitors. Lots of gray area here.

Ever heard of prenatal androgen levels? Here is a literature review on the research on the topic. I never said it was not a mental illness identified by the DSM, what I did say is that proper treatment involves gender reassignment surgery and hormone replacement.

Also I'd like to note that I realize this is not full PROOF, but all current scientific evidence is pointing in this direction. Couple that with the fact that 90% of people who have the surgery report significantly improved lives in almost all aspects, I'd say they are on to something.
