I just don't understand the motive for the hijacking.

It kinda makes sense though. Flying to 45,000 feet, killing everyone onboard without an oxygen mask that was is much easier than shooting them all and dealing with it after you land.

Landing in a remote location to prep the plane for a terrorist attack makes a ton of sense actually. I doubt the target will be US based but there's a ton of places it could hit all within range of middle Asia.

From watching the documentary on the Halios flight, it was stated that the plane was never pressurized from the beginning and that at 10,000ft people would have already started being hazy and by 15,000ft most people including the pilots were passed out. So why would they have had to fly so high? Why not just depressurize the jet?

So why would they have had to fly so high? Why not just depressurize the jet?

But it's all speculation. Maybe they flew erratically because of a struggle in the cockpit. Who knows. Keep in mind Malaysian radar probably sucks and those flight levels may be pretty inaccurate.
