I'll try to keep this as word-limited as I can...I've been around here long enough for you to know that isn't my specialty. I actually had a professor in college call me "verbose"...which is the reason I now know what "verbose" means.
See..... 2 run on sentences and I have yet to post anything actually about "Keetman's Gym".
Anyway... I've been on here for about 6 years. I came here to get information on a smith machine I'd bought and about the same time I learned I could get really cool equipment on CL for like....nothing. So I started reading, acquiring, flipping....then repeating. I ended up turning a smith, a treadmill, and some dumbbells into about $20K worth of almost all commercial equipment and I spent about a grand on it all.
I had a really cool gym....then about 3 months ago I sold my house and had to move. The new house had a great basement which even included a designated gym...which was cool....almost like the house was looking for me, instead of the other way around. It was about 350sf or so, which was a problem because I had almost 500sf before and a little extra because some stuff was stored in other parts of the basement since it wasn't finished yet. Now...I have walls and a plan for finishing the rest of the basement, so there really isn't any room for overflow.
I've spent the last month or so tearing out the carpet, painting, arranging equipment, and getting things ready for my new space. Now I'm done and I thought I'd share the pics. I'm pretty happy with the space. I have a couple of areas where things are "cramped", however I've been able to get everything I wanted to keep into my new area except for 2 items... a reverse hyper attachment and a set of rubber hampton db's. Later....probably in the fall, I am going to reclaim the 6'x3' area to the right of my power cage and this should allow me to find the room for those items. So....I have everything I wanted and needed and I was still able to retain some open space in the middle of the room. In a perfect world I'd have more space...but even then I'd just acquire more crap, so this is more than fine and I'm really happy.

Final stretch..... thanks for being patient and looking at my stuff....
Accessory wall. I used the Rubbermaid "Fasttrack" system. It wasn't cheap, but I like how it turned out. With the way everything is spaced out, I honestly didn't have a whole lot of wall space for this stuff. I was glad to get this like it is, even if it does seem a little cluttered.
Powerlifting Dragons, stereo, and The Ohio State University Clock (haterz gonna hate...don't care)....
Closer shot of the calf raise and supported row with the calibrated ivanko bumpers....
Back of the room with the Diamondback Elliptical and Precor Treadmill...
From the back of the room to the front:
Just for good measure because I really like the barbell and the helmet saved my butt more than a few times....

Looks great dude. Very welcoming space and top notch gear. I'm digging the old school bell as well.

nice!
Nice man! Are you thinking of installing ceiling tiles or something so you can stare at those while you're benching? I've found this to be an issue. Either I'm at the gym and they have a big light RIGHT ABOVE my bench, or I'm in my garage staring at a nail hole that looks like a creepy spider from a distance...

Very nice. I'm jealous.
The wife and I are hoping to move to a slightly larger house in a couple years, and a nice clean basement gym area is a requirement."What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us." - Ralph Waldo Emerson

You need a good rack, a bench, and a 300-lb Olympic weight set. Now, what was your question?

Hater checking in....jk....semi-srs.
You have a great space and it looks like you've utilized the space well.

The vertical leg press stays, period. First of all, I like it, and I haven't seen another like it in my area in the last 6 years. Second, it was what got all of this flipping started. I didn't like squatting in the smith machine, so I decided to get a leg press. Found this one on CL for $150, got it, then kept looking and found a set of db's much better than the ones I had for $350...sold my old ones for $350 in 3 days....then decided I was on to something. Leg press stays.
The calibrated Ivanko Bumpers came a little over a year ago. I had to drive about 3.5 hours for them and didn't really need them...but liked them and they went with my revolvers. I think I paid about $850 for the set...not the greatest deal for used, but far better than new and pretty cool.
The C2 gave me some dilemmas. I like the treadmill and the wife likes the elliptical, so they both stay....but I also like the rower, so what to do? This was one of the compromises... it has to get stuck in a place where I'll have to move it frequently, but its tucked away, doesn't look bad, and I get to keep it. I can put it up and down and move it without hitting the ceiling...if it was 1/2" longer, I don't think I could say that.
I really only use the bumpers for deads. I got them mostly for the cool factor, they're Ivanko's, and I didn't have a whole set of bumpers.
I'm going to strategically place the speakers, but I don't have plans to upgrade. I can get it loud enough in there you won't like it, its still clear, and I can hook my ipod up to it....so I don't see the point right now in upgrading. I'm not really an audiophile, so loud clear music is what my requirements are....I have that.
You know....this was a driving motivator for me to make things work. This was almost and probably more (considering the overflow) than 150sf less than I had at the other house. However....its really a good size room, all things considered, and much bigger than probably most homes have (especially considering I still have a large basement to finish out at some point). I decided that with the quality of my equipment and the relatively big space I have...I was going to be happy with what I have. It turned out nice in my opinion and I don't have much to complain about...which is pretty much the story of my life.
Don't neg Cleveland.... his post was pretty funny!
The bowflex, unicycle, and shake weight rack are around the corner in another room.... I call it the jelquing corner.
Dude...let it go.
If I can respect Michigan...you can respect tOSU.

Inquiring minds want to know. Don't you have trouble getting your bars in and out of that 3 x 3 bar holder? I have a similar low ceiling in my gym and I have holes and scuff marks in the ceiling tiles where the bar hits when I lift it up to put in or take out of my bar holder. Hmm, it looks like you have a scuff mark above the bar in the back.
