it is more so dependent on genetics and how long they have been obese. if someone just randomly gets fat as hell over a short period of time then loses the weight and no further health complications are seen I wouldn't put them in the same category.

I am. I'm back to lifting and doing cardio. My diet is slowly getting better. Still needs a lot of work. My self control has decreased over the weight gain. Thanks OP. I'm hoping I can lose 20 pounds in 6 months or so.

I am not arguing any facts I am pointing out the error in the specific logic used to why it shouldnt be called a disease.

deserving it or not has nothing to do whether or not it should be called something. people who do not have genetic predisposition also then deserve CVD based on what you are saying.

You cannot compare lung cancer to obesity, seeing as lung cancer for a lot of people comes without smoking.

Are you referring to a certain type of CVD? because you can get all of them without being a fatty, just because cardio strengthens you CVD it doesn't make it invincible

i agree, obesity is a disease. if someone gets cancer from smoking they have a disease, albeit a self inflicted one. i have less sympathy for fatties than for, say, someone born with a disease through no fault of their own. but both are undeniably diseases by definition
