You obviously have no fuking idea what impact Netwon had.
It's tough arguing with a guy like yourself who obviously has no understanding of physics, engineering or anything in between, so you'll never know how much of an impact Newton really had on so, so much. I'm not going to sit here and type it up. Educate yourself and then apologize to Newton's ghost (srs). It's like trying to argue with a Russian guy who doesn't understand English: Just pointless and a waste of time.
Newton:
-discovers laws of optics after building the first reflecting telescope
-discovers laws of motion
-discovers universal law of gravitation
-invents infinitesimal Calculus after being tasked to find out why Earth's orbit is Elliptical (calculus which is used in finance, biology, chemistry, physics, engineering, economics, etc, etc, etc)
-developed Newton's law of cooling (which helps the agricultural industry)
-improved coins so they are harder to counterfeit (still used today...i.e. in the quarter coin)
Darwin:
-created Origins of Species which lead to the theory of natural selection and evolution.

This is a difficult question to answer, each great contribution has/had it's place.
That being said, I would say the single person who had contributed most to the human race has had to be the inventor of the wheel, imo it is an extraordinarily important invention which changed the way us humans think (out of the box, creativity wise).

Sir Francis Bacon.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Francis_Bacon
The guy practically invented the current scientific method we now use. A method that to me hides more than it reveals by its very nature (ignore anything there's no physical proof of) but thats another thread.
He introduced something like 20,000 French words into the English language at a time when the entire English language consisted of hardly any words at all. We were literally still saying "ug" until he did that. Plus the fact that he was the first guy with a printing press! The first ever propagandist!
Then there's the theories that he was in fact William Shakespeare (who never existed). The theory is it was a team of writers, all working under Bacon. Let's face it, one man can't do all of that, but we were conned into thinking there are people that clever, just lol.
Thats why he ended up a "Sir". He successfully led people down the wrong path (with his scientific method) and for that, you get honors. Darwin is the same thing, he is even on banknotes lol... yes because he successfully lied to the world and basically helped to create the accepted ignorance we now have today that passes for normality (like, never question anything lol).
"He famously died by contracting pneumonia while studying the effects of freezing on the preservation of meat."
The guy was a straight up genius.
Thing is he can be credited with this and that but I am sure Eskimo's thousands of years ago knew meat stayed fresher when frozen. Come on. Its like Christopher Columbus supposedly "discovering" America, no he didn't! There were people living there when he went there so there goes that bullchit. How in the fuk can a guy be credited with discovering something that has already been discovered. The truth is they don't know who the hell the original discoverer was so let's just say its this guy.Last edited by Manc33; 03-03-2014 at 02:09 PM.

Invention synonym = creation.
Creation: the action or process of bringing something into existence.
Most if not all of man made creations are influenced by their surroundings, which is what makes such a "simple" invention so fascinating. The thinking process needed to take place for the wheel to be thought up is no different to the thinking process that was needed to invent the computer (an attempt to recreate a human brain).

And written language could never have occurred without the guy who discovered writing on rocks.
And writing on rocks could never have occurred without the first homosapian who pioneered use of thumbs.
And he never could have used thumbs unless the first homosapian decided to walk on two feet.
And he never could have been born unless the first fish decided to walk out of water.
ect. ect.
tl;dr Saying the creator of x is more contributive than the creator of y because y could never have existed without x is a fallacy.

Jonas Salk
created the polio vaccine and didn't patent and gave it away for free (could have made something like $7billion)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jonas_Salk
imagine if the vaccine hadn't been created for another 20 or so years
