What's up everybody. A few years ago I was diagnosed with Degenerative Disc Disease, several bulging discs and Facet disease. I've been cleared for surgery but I'm trying to postpone it for as long as possible. Currently I'm in the process of losing weight and I'm down 14 lbs already but my back is really hurting and making it difficult. Recently my doctor recommended that I wear this brace and it has been one of the best things I've ever bought to help me through my workouts. It has a patented pulley system that allows you tighten and loosen at the pull of a strap. If you have back problems please check it out. Hope it helps you just as much as it has me. Let me know if you have any questions.

Sorry to hear about your condition. Something I'd also recommend is mobility exercises to work your psoas muscles. These muscles are your abdominal muscles that are affected while sitting down for extended periods of time. People with desk jobs typically have very tight and short psoas muscles. This affects the rest of your body because it pulls in your back muscles, which leads to shoulders rounding, which leads to neck pain, etc. Obviously it won't be of any use to a degenerative disc disease case, but your back muscles being tight are one additional problem you just don't need.

Wow, I've been dealing with this pain for a long time and been to three different doctors and I've never heard of the psoas muscles. I just researched them online. Thanks a lot for the recommendation. My last doctor said I needed to work on my flexibility, but he didn't specify what type of stretching. I'll definitely look more into this. 'ppreciate it.

In addition to the above recommendations, take a look at The Trigger Point Therapy Workbook. The self massage techniques described in the book have helped me fix a variety of pain, including back pain. A while back, I made a thread reviewing some of the massage tools I've tried. See http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showth...hp?t=137619833. In conjunction with the book, you might find it useful to purchase a Body Back Buddy.
That back brace looks interesting, however. I'll keep it in mind should I find myself needing one.
